I think he'll be fine. It's the newMy concerns are that both Barret and Meyers looked great on paper based on their experience, and that turned out to be an unfounded assumed ability to lead based on a proven technical record in both cases.
I thought Otellini would be a flop, being "just" a marketing guy by pedigree. But he turned out to be pretty darn good at being a CEO.
So will this guy be a Barret? Or an Otellini? I'm hopeful but don't feel like I have any justification for being so...

With my wife owning a few shares of intel, I hope he is successful!
Seriously, I wish him well.
I think he'll be fine. It's the new COO (James) that I'm worried about. Appointing a software person to COO of a hardware company? Especially coming from a software division as miserable as Intel's?
Oh you're right. That's President, not COO. That's even worse!I didn't realize until you posted this that they split the CEO / President role. :hmm:

Isn't that because Krzanich and James came as a package deal?Oh you're right. That's President, not COO. That's even worse!

I'm looking at the Intel that spent a small fortune on McAfee and has nothing to show for it. That's what James has been up to thus far.:|Maybe Intel's finally gotten the point that they need better consumer software to help driver sales? The do have good dev tools from what I've read, but then you look at something like their iGPU drivers and just cry :'(
