We all know how Lion cove was all Bark no Action. It was Lion only in Name 🤣
Intel as we know it will be gone.Yup giving up foundry will suck in long term and the industry foundry trendsetter will be gone lol
Meow Cove?We all know how Lion cove was all Bark no Action. It was Lion only in Name 🤣
Yeah the Intel that created the entire industry and everything it will be a Sad End.Intel as we know it will be gone.
Yeah, might rather be Kitty Lake
You mean created the x86 industry after killing all the competition in the 80s and 90s?Yeah the Intel that created the entire industry and everything it will be a Sad End.
I think the biggest Mistake for the Trinity was not finding a suitable Successor
Nope not only x86You mean created the x86 industry after killing all the competition in the 80s and 90s?
Intel is as guilty with Qud core CPU for a decade and Anti competitive practiceSince x86 was a really poor and ugly design which forced 64KB segmentation and the horrible things programmers had to back then (remember the Motorola 68000 was in the running for the PC and it has 32 bit data and address registers even back then), I wouldn't shed any tears.
Plus they way Intel played really dirty one throughout the year.
That's an exaggeration of Intel's role in developing EUV.EUV Lithography
Nope Intel was the one that funded the initial reasearch for EUV from which we have EUVThat's an exaggeration of Intel's role in developing EUV.
I am too young for thatDoes anyone remember creating a special boot disk with autoexec.bat with himem or something like that just to boot to dos and have enough available memory to run doom1/2?
Don't think I had a special boot disk but yes, if you wanted to play RAM hungry DOS games, being able to edit autoexec.bat and config.sys was a requirement.Does anyone remember creating a special boot disk with autoexec.bat with himem or something like that just to boot to dos and have enough available memory to run doom1/2?
486DX2 ran Doom 2 like a dream. Amazing machine for its time. Had CD-ROM drive and Sound Blaster!Don't think I had a special boot disk but yes, if you wanted to play RAM hungry DOS games, being able to edit autoexec.bat and config.sys was a requirement.
I remember extended memory was easier to make available than expanded memory which really made me hate any game that needed expanded memory, not that there were that many. I can actually think of only one game that wouldn't ever even launch on my 486DX2-66 PC. It was some kind of weird science-y game. Left me pretty frustrated.
Hard to forget. Config.sys was like:Does anyone remember creating a special boot disk with autoexec.bat with himem or something like that just to boot to dos and have enough available memory to run doom1/2?
I only got my first sound card (SB compatible clone with some OPL chipset) with a Pentium non-MMX. It was amazing fun!486DX2 ran Doom 2 like a dream. Amazing machine for its time. Had CD-ROM drive and Sound Blaster!
DOOM used DOS/4G 32-bit memory manager, so they did not need tweaking himem, however from my fading memory this manager wasn't compatible with EMM386.sys being active, so this is what probably reboot was needed for.Does anyone remember creating a special boot disk with autoexec.bat with himem or something like that just to boot to dos and have enough available memory to run doom1/2?
Both CMOS and SRAM were invented by Fairchild, not Intel. EUV lithography was invented and developed by US research agencies.Nope not only x86
They created SRAM/PCIE/USB/CMOS Fabrication/EUV Lithography and much more sure they wanted monopoly over x86 but they created everything hell even HKMG/FinFet TSMC Followed Intel also the thing that motivates the Industry Moores Law even now so if it comes to Historical Importance there is no Semi company that come close to Intel
The ICs(CMOS Fabrication) were Co developed by Kilby (Ti) and Noyce(Intel)Both CMOS and SRAM were invented by Fairchild
Intel was the biggest part they funded the entire research also they funny part Intel/Nikon/Cannon were denied the Rights and ASML got them, not Intel. EUV lithography was invented and developed by US research agencies.
Noyce was working at Fairchild when he invented the IC. Intel did not even exist back then. The ICs(CMOS Fabrication) were Co developed by Kilby (Ti) and Noyce(Intel)
There were more than "US research agencies" involved in the development of EUV. There were several researchers involved in Europe as well, and some in Asia. It was a multinational effort.EUV lithography was invented and developed by US research agencies.
He knows nothing.Intel BOD again hired an executive search firm to find a replacement for Gelsinger. They are rumor to be given only a 6-month contract to complete the mission. Personally, I would choice Elon Musk! He knows the technology firsthand and has the visionary and management talents to turnaround Intel. Elon plays video games, so he is a gamer too!

He would kill the fab and go to TSMC or he will make Intel his personal FAB for All his companiesMusk has much bigger fish to fry than Intel. And more fish: Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, Twitter, xAI, Boring Company.
