Interested in dual booting

I'm interested in setting up my computer to dual boot with Win2k and Win98. One problem...I don't know how. Anybody out there have some good information? Has anybody done this? How has it worked out? Is it worth it? Let me know please!

It's easy. Partition your hard drive into at least 2 partitions. Format them as FAT32. Install Win98 first. Install it to the 'C' partition. When finished, install Win2K on to the 'D' partition. Win2K will detect the other OS and set up a dual boot menu for you. Then you can decided which OS you want to use during boot up.

Yeah cause i was going to say that just because your hardware works well in 98se then it doesn't mean you'll have the same performance in 2k also.

One of the big requirement about win2k is RAM... It eats up a lot of ram... so at least you need 64MB to use it, and at least 128MB for decent performance...

You can simply create 1 FAT32 partition and install both OS on the same partition. However having them on seperate partitions is recommended... If you use seperate partitions, you can use NTFS instead of FAT32 for win2k... main advantage would be the added security NTFS provides...

Ok here is my system breakdown:
224mb ram
PIII 450
HD 1: 30gb 4 partitions
Partition 1: 3gb for win2k
Partition 2: 2gb for win98
Partition 3 and 4: 12.5gb each
HD 2: 12.7gb no partitions
As far as hardware and software compatibility issues go I downloaded and ran a MS Win2k utility so I know what will work and what won't.
Anything else?

Work gave me a test machine to play around with while I'm there. They bought me System Commander and gave me install CDs for NT WS 4, 98, 98SE, and Win2K. I had all four on that puppy, quad booting. All the hardware worked in all the OSs.

3C905B, Diamond Speedstar <something> AGP card, 2 x 433 Celeron on BP6, 128MB RAM, 20GB HD. It was fun for a couple of weeks until the machine got reappropriated for a Win2K server testing bed.

I wanted to put a couple flavors of Linux on it while I was at it, but our burner had just died and I couldn't make ISOs at the time.

System Commander made it VERY easy to install everything. Yes, it can be done. It worked out fine. Worth it? I dunno, it kept me busy for a day or two though.
