Interesting difference between TA and DPC

I was just looking at the stats, and noticed something very interesting.

TA top 298 producers from yesterday cracked more blocks than the DPC top 298.

It's not until you get down to 300 and below that they begin to outproduce us.
It is the guys that are cracking 1400 and less blocks a day that have been kicking the snot out of us, not the 'big hitters.'

2 Duron 600's - (either build 'em - or recruit 'em.) x the 752 members submitting blocks today = 1504 Duron 600's. - overclocked of course... let's say averaging 750 Mhz. (they do 900 easy) would produce an extra 1,234,413 blocks - enough to have advanced to first place in the daily.

Just food for thought.

true we at DPC have a good system of getting new members and get about 15 to 25 new members each day. most of these members are small timers who flush with 1 or 2 pc's... a interesting part of the DPC is our own daily stats we compile out of the dnet stats. for easy checking and cool competions we have within the DPC.

Keep on flushin.

I'm guilty! I was #586 yesterday. But, I have more that doubled that output so far today! I will need to dedicate 1.6 GHz to the effort to beat the 1,400 blocks you are asking for. Consider it done!!

Excellent. What about the other 751 TA members?

<< DPC have a good system of getting new members and get about 15 to 25 new members each day >>

We've noticed.
It's miraculous. It's difficult to believe. It's a curious olfactory phenomenon that we scratch our heads over. It's mathematically improbable, and quite a feat. I'd sure like to see details on how that all works....

Dee, you are indeed.
Here's where the strange part comes in. You are producing roughly 6% more than your DPC counterpart. It's the same story all the way up to the #1 team position.

so - This being the case - in order to complete 1,000,000 + blocks more than TA does daily, if the top 300 are a wash - or TA is outproducing those DPC members...

Here's the weird part.

For the DPC:

301-400 produce about an average 1225 blocks = 122,500
401-500 produce about an average 877 blocks = 87,700
501-600 produce about an average 671 blocks = 67,100
601-700 produce about an average 510 blocks = 51,100
701-800 produce about an average 396 blocks = 39,600
801-900 produce abt an average 306 blocks = 30,600
901-1000 produce abt an average 228 blocks = 22,800
1001-1100 produce abt an average 165 blocks = 16,500
1101-1200 produce abt an average 117 blocks = 11,700
1201-1300 produce abt an average 80 blocks = 8,000
1301-1400 produce abt an average 48 blocks = 4,800
1401-1500 produce abt an average 18 blocks = 1,800
1501-1519 produce abt an average 3 blocks = 300
Total............................................._____
...............................................452,800

For TA:

301-400 produce 1124 blocks = 112,400
401-500 produce 669 blocks = 66,900
501-600 produce 359 blocks = 35,900
601-700 produce 142 blocks = 14,200
701-752 produce 24 blocks = 2,400
Total.........................._______
..............................130,640

Daily outcome:...........DPC - 452,800
.........................TA: - 130,640

Total Diff: DPC+ 1,000,000 to 1,700,000 right?

I was born at night... but not LAST night. OR: Is this the "New" math?

Ya, the DPC's ability to get the small guys is what got us earlier this week.:Q Unfortunately, as you've stated DanC; we really haven't been able to get the small guys, for reasons we have yet to figure out.

Dan, You better put a call in to the FBI. I think special agent Fox Mulder would have the knack and insight to solve this bizare and unexplained case. Just send his partner over to my house to inspect my equipment. She'll tell you that I put out like I've never put out before. hehe

Now if I could dump the last of the Katami core Pentium III's and replace them with Thunderbirds I might be able to stay in the top 10 on Mika's proxy.

DanC,

I think it is difficult to base your analysis one day's activity. Their top 298 producers must be producing much more than us or, they could not be able to do some of the Mega-Flushes that they have done recently. They had a couple of 1 million block flushes around New Years, and then did that 6 to 9 meg flush the other day. Thus, what you see as their daily output is most likely a bit low.

Wasn't sure what you were referring to about the "New Math?" Unless, you didn't find the output of those under 298 to be as big as you had assumed; thus, wondering where the numbers are coming from.

Anyway, with my late start, I'll still get over 1,000 blocks today!

JWM - you make a valid point. I went ahead and plugged the top 300 into a spreadsheet.

The numbers are even more interesting.

The DPC top 300 produced 2,368,227 Blocks Yesterday.
The TA. top 300 produced 1,618,933
DPC top 300 win the day by 749,294

but... in their overall standings:
The DPC top 300 produced 450,504,334 Blocks or 73.04% of their team total
The TA. top 300 produced 483,793,164 Blocks or 79.61% of their team total

TA top 300 are up by 33,288,830 Blocks.

Scratching your head yet?

Curiouser and curiouser...

Of the 616,683,627 DPC blocks 73.04% were produced by the top 300

Since the DPC typically have around 1500 participants daily - this means that
26.96% of that production was done more or less by the next 1200 or so participants.

This would require an average contribution of 135,000 blocks.

It's more like 77,600 for the next 1200.

hmmm...

I think i mentioned it before but the main reason for our growth really is the fact that our DPCH is posted on Tweakers.net

http://www.tweakers.net/ see DUTCH POWER COWS HITPARADE

If Anand would put something like this on his mainpage i am sure we(DPC) would only see the back of you guys

<< It's a book Engineer, go wash your mouth with soap and water >>

isn't it a movie?

and danc: like stated several times above: our big motivator is the daily TEAMstats update..
one hell of a motivator that stuff.. so please.. do NOT implement a simular feature on the anandtech site!
Or at least wait untill we catch up with OGR (and SETI)

DanC, you are forgetting something in your statistics. You Should combine "days working"/"average working speed".

As you are aware my fellow members of DPC like to save up units . So this might influence your statistics too.

Anyway I hope you'll get youre extra machines, this will make the race more competative (my team has switched to OGR, maybe 25 machines)
