So what are the options then?
1. Ban smoking
2. Don't tax cigs
3. Tax them, but give the money to someone besides the CDC; money for the CDC has to come from elsewhere
4. Keep on taxing and giving to the CDC
Unless I missed an alternative, these are your options, pick one. Nobody sane believes you can ban smoking, so the realistic options left are to tax it or don't tax it. If you tax it, the money has to go somewhere. Whether that money goes to the CDC, to Bill Gates or nowhere at all, it will have NO effect on the number of people smoking and dying of smoking...might as well put it to good use is the way I see it.
