one thing I saw that I really liked is that it has mounting holes for LGA775 heatsinks in addition to the standard i7 mounts -- so no need for an adapter kit.

That's likely to be the standard for desktop parts, since their logical choices are now 3 or 6 slots. This gives you 3 or 6GB in a typical setup, or 12! if the board supports 4GB DIMMs. Hardly limiting!
