To end this rant, a word about Islamic fundis/wahabisim/qaeda and all that.
Do you know when the sight of women veiled from top to bottom became common in cities in Iraq? Do you know when the question of segregation between boys and girls became red hot? When tribal law replaced THE LAW? When Wahabi became part of our vocabulary?
It only happened after the Gulf War. I think it was Cheney or Albright who said they will bomb Iraq back to the stone age, well you did

For people interested in the current status of the blog-writer (Salam), you might want to look at the blog of one of his friends, a New Yorker:

Apparently, journalists like from Slate and such, have found out about this Salam and are quizzing her as to whether he's real or not, she appears convinced that he is, but now those same journalists are quizzing whether any of these blog-writers are real. Ha.

Here is an interesting paragraph from her Friday entry:

I cannot not not not get over the irony of this war and how we are all communicating with one another. I am a sort-of-hawk (at least, conditionally pro-war), and I am communicating with a Baghdadi from New York City; an Israeli puts up a mirror site for this Iraqi; the guy in Baghdad wishes an Israeli woman and her family well while he is about to be shocked and awed by my country's unparalleled ability to wage war; she puts up a website from the IDF Home Command for him to download a PDF survival guide in Arabic.

I read that Raed thing, and something about it just doesn't seem right. I would be very highly suprised if that was a true resident of Baghdad.
