Plenty of other people take the elevator up further, and nobody is forcing him to use the stairs. Nevertheless, he has no choice in the matter and must take the stairs past the 10th floor if he rides alone. Why?

I've heard of this one too. Kind of a lateral thinking puzzle. The hardest riddle in this thread.

Hard is what makes a riddle fun!! Problem is once you've read a lot of riddles it's rare you find one you haven't heard before.

One girl went into the room twice?

What does that prove?

If she goes into the room with the apple she took, she can put it back and take another with her. Of course, it doesn't have to be the same girl. It could be any girl with an apple.

This feels wrong, but I'll give it a shot:

The man is a midget and cannot reach above the 10th floor button in the elevator.

There was a man who slept with the kings wife and got caught. The king announces to the public that he will be beheaded as an example in front of everyone but states that he'll give the man a chance to live. He will have a paper in each of his hand, one says he gets to live and keeps his wife, the other says he will die, the man will pick his own fate. The night before the execution, the wife sneaks into the dungeon to warn the man, she tells him the king is going to cheat, both messages will say he dies so it doesn't matter what he picks. The next day, the man in front of everyone makes a selection but he lives and gets to keep the kings wife, how did that happen?

edit: He does not tell the people the king is cheating in fear the king will just kill him on the spot. His solution keeps him alive and allows the king to save face.

A simple one:

Whoever makes it, tells it not. Whoever takes it, knows it not. And whoever knows it wants it not.

Do you mean the man chooses a message or says something?

I suppose if the last girl took the basket with the apple in it with her, the apple is still in the basket, albeit not in the room?

I say it's poorly worded. "a girl comes into the room and takes one apple with her." Sounds like she is taking an apple into the room, not out of it.

But the correct answer is better.
