disclaimer: I'm asian, my parents are asian immigrants (not the generation that I see doing this)- zero disrespect implied, just curious.
so i noticed while grocery shopping that there's often a swarm of asian immigrants (skews older) who seem to examine every single meat product. Not just looking for marbling, but examining price stickers, weight info, etc. Digging to the bottom, really taking their time with each one. I understand this with beef since marbling, muscle to fat, etc. matters but with everything - chicken, pork, etc. What are they looking for? Since pricing is per unit anyways what's the obsession with exact weight and price? What am I missing? I'm very aware that large portions of this population are just smarter than me so i'm genuinely curious
