According to the download page, it's a Tem Serv client from 1999, are you sure it's the RDP5.1 version (16bit color and sound) that was introduced with WinXP ?

No I am not too sure about the sound, but color is 64k to me, much better than the IE3.01 for WinCE.

Just a few comments. Received the ePlate on Monday and have been playing with it quite a bit. As an ePods (did everything introduced at the end of the 20th century start with a lowercase "e"?) owner, its impossible not to compare the two.

Seems like the SH4 processor is a good bit peppier even though it is rated at the same speed as the ePods' MIPS. Great for multi-tasking e.g. playing MP3s while note taking, and it even seems to be faster rendering web pages over a wireless connection (using a D-Link card), but I'm not sure the lack of software compiled for the SH4 processor is a reasonable tradeoff. Nearly every application that I've tried to install on it seems to lack support for the SH4.

Now that Hitachi stopped producing it, I'm not sure if the ePlate user community is going to see very many new Windows CE applications being released, which is unfortunate because, at the price I paid for it, this is a pretty nice device.

One other thing. I've been in contact with a tech support rep at Hitachi Service USA concerning a couple of issues with the screen and am VERY impressed with their level of service. Quick email responses and genuinely knowledgable about the ePlate. I can't tell you how many times I've talked to tech support guys that had never HEARD of the very product that I was calling about.

wei2cool - ok just checked that Terminal Services version you linked and sure enough it's the same old version I was using in my ePod and it's 8bit/256 color. I had to intall Citrix Metframe to get 64k colors and sound.
Not sure how you got 64k colors ! Are you sure there isn't some confusion ?
Try looking at a picture, it will jump at you !

I've tried 2 different cards and can't get them working for wireless internet.

Under Control Panel > System > Device, mine won't even detect anything in any of the Expansion slots even though the OS knows that there's a wireless network card in there because I get a little dialogue box that pops up for me to name it every time I turn the machine on.

Anyone know of a card that's certified to work?

CanOWorms - The first thing you need to do is install the CE-compatible drivers for the card. Then when you are prompted to name the card after inserting it into the ePlate, you need to name it the specific driver .dll for the card. For example, wireless cards using the prism chipset (D-link, SMC, Addtron etc.) should be named "PRISMNDS.DLL". I've been able to connect the ePlate wirelessly to my LAN using a D-Link DWL-650 and the drivers provided on the ePods site, so it looks like the ePlate uses the standard CE drivers.

What specific cards are you trying to use? The link that The Duk provided is a good resource for cards that work with CE devices. You might also try CEWindows.net for a comprehensive list of cards and their associated drivers.
