the Dead Space 1 devs are now making Call of Duty games as Sledgehammer entertainment
the Dead Space 2/3 devs are now making Battlefield games, still under the Visceral brand
just thought that was interesting
They are making A, or 1 Battlefield game. Maybe they might be more, but this had to do more with Visceral having an interesting idea that could apply to the Battlefield franchise, than EA moving Visceral over as some sub division of DICE. The other big thing is unlike Infinity Ward and Respawn. There wasn't a mass Exodus with Visceral. The head two guys from Visceral left because they wanted more atonomy and started up Sledgehammer under Activision. There were probably a some other people that left Visceral for Sledgehammer, but as a whole the Visceral that made 2&3 was still Visceral (unlike the Infinity Ward that made Ghosts).
Which is kind of funny Visceral is still pretty autonomous. Some will see a BF game as EA pulling their strings. But I wouldn't say that is certain. Sledgehammer was forced to stop their original game development, co-develop a game with Infinity ward because Activision's controlling and paranoid nature caused half of their premiere non-Blizzard team to storm out. Now they have developed as their first solo game a run of the mill CoD with jet packs. Looks better than Ghosts, and I actually enjoyed the SP of Ghosts. But still now they are just the B team in a 3 team development cycle.
I kinda feel bad for those two. Probably in even worse shape to try to run off after this to do something like Respawn.
