Interesting Xmen Trivia

Here's some interesting facts that many people don't realize about the Xmen.

Mistique is actually naked in her natural form. If she needs cloths she just shape shifts and she has them.
Mistique is limited to changing her shape only within the bounds of her body mass. AKA she can't take the shape of someone smaller than her body mass, but can under certain circumstances take the shape of someone larger than her.

Wolverine's claws are extended and retracted by a sent of specially grafted muscles and a spring loaded assister set of springs and levers. They also lay directly between his fingers.

So, anybody else got any neat and interesting factoids and trivia about the Xmen?

where'd you read that? His claws are natural. They are bone claws covered with Adamantium.

The first time he popped his claws, the doctors of Project - Weapon X were surprised. Why would they be surprised if they grafted special muscles and springs to him?

He also has to keep popping the claws to prevent the skin from healing rapidly.

Never heard about the spring loaded thing, but in the movie someone asked him if it hurt when he extended his claws, and he would say "every time". That would imply that his skin heals over every time.

This is second hand info from my cousin, who's a huge comic geek, but wasn't the Wolverine with natural bone claws a "fake"? And the real one doesn't really have the bone claws.

Like I said, second hand info, but that's what he told me, and I remember thinking how retarded the clone escape seems to be these days.

didn't wolverine get one set of bone claws broken? i thought i remembered reading after magneto stripped the adamantium out of him, I think he had a battle with cyber or sabretooth and one of them stepped on his extended claws and broke them off....this was awhile back though. i'm pretty sure the claws are naturally bone, though.

LordRaiden, you are mixing the movie world with the comic book world. In the movies, his claws lay between his fingers.
The thing about Mystique is true in both worlds I think, but you spelled her name wrong .

As for Wolverines claws, they are naturally bone, as revealed in the origin line of comic books. They became coated with adamantium, just like the rest of his bones.

I don't know if Wolvie's claws were ever broken, but Magneto did strip his skeleton from him on Avalon during one of their major confrontations. That was a bad ass comic, as his own children confronted him and his hand was forced by Xavier's. The X-men even make remarks as to how he isn't using his full strength against them, and never has. Anyways, the movie really bastardized Magneto. He's quite the character and isn't strictly evil or a villain... ok, enough rambling...

Ahh, right around where I stopped reading comic books. They broke Logan with that storyline, IMHO.

FYI... Wolverine's original name was James Howlett. His step father was a man named Thomas Logan. Thomas Logan had a son, "Dog".. who became Sabertooth.

Sabertooth who rumor had it was his father is actually his half brother. It seems sabertooth only inherited some of Thomas Logan's traits. His personality for one. However James was not as messed up mentally by abuse as Sabertooth was. Sabertooth also has the power of healing and enhightend Senses just like wolverine. Which is why Sabertooth is one of wolverines most deadly of Foes.

Sabertooth has never forgiven him for the murder of his father (and James's but James doesn't know he killed his own father) and the scars James left behind on his face. -

Yeah that's one thing even though I'm not a comic buff I have always liked about X-Men. Instead of the cookie-cutter, dastardly evil dude they have a complex, interesting and even conflicted villain. Very well concieved storyline - the X-Men cartoon was one of my favorites of all time when I was younger.

Man....i'ts been a long time since I read comic books (going on 10+ years now). I stopped right when the Wolverine/X-Men series started and Uncanny got all these what I considered bastardized X-men (Cable, Gambit, etc...). j/k

Let's see...Wolvie was just discovering his past, they had 2 teams of X-Men (blue and gold?), and I think the storyline just got way too fragmented from there. X-Men I grew up with: Colossus, Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat, Wolvie, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, the Beast, and sometimes Jean Grey.

Iron Man...that's where it's at!

I did the same. Once they had multiple X-men comics plus the offshoot New Mutants/X-Force, Excalibur, etc I started losing interest. Also didn't help that I started dating around the same time and needed money for girls. LOL

Hehe, you guys quit right when I started. I'm gonna guess you guys are about 5 years older than me . The "bastardized X-men" are pretty cool, give them a chance. Gambit's story line as the traitor (is that resolved? Its been like 5 years and I can't find any new info on it...), Cable and Stryfe's X-cutioner comic, Bishop's time traveling... And then there are the villains. They really fleshed out Magneto during this time I think. He went to war with governments that had WMD's, created a "heaven" for any mutant, even the X-men, had a group formed under his teaching and was betrayed and cared for by Colossus... Whenever he is attacked by the X-men, they use his pain against him, which I think provides some great reading. Yah, I'm a big Magneto fanboy...

God. I lost complete interest when X-Men fractioned up like that. The original team was the best and the Blue/Gold team was bearable. Then they got Gambit and Bishop and Stryfe and Cable....ugh.... the whole time travel crap sucked. It forced you to read every single X-Men offshoot book with all their stupid "crossovers". If you read just Uncanny X-men, you'd be missing out on about 4/5 of the storyline...

yeah he had a set broken. But over time his healing factor kicked in and regrew them.
oh it was cyber. it was a pretty good battle. one of the few times you actually see wolvie scared.

I'm pretty sure that the reason Magneto was SO powerful during that saga (when he ripped out Wolvie's adamantium) was because when Asteroid M crashed to Earth through the magnetic field, it enhanced his powers tenfold (or some factor). He was/is more powerful now than he ever was before. He wasn't always "holding back". But I don't have my old issues here with me at school, so I can't check for certain.

Magneto is probably one of my favorite characters, if for no other reason than the fact that he's not a clear-cut 'villian' in the regular sense of the word. That, and he's just so damned cool. I think i was in maybe 3rd grade or so when the blue/gold teams were around...damn, it doesn't seem like that was 10 years ago. It's funny, cuz just yesterday i was talking with my friend about all this.
Anybody else remember the age of apocalypse? or the Onslaught saga? Or Almagam comics?

Wolverine's claws one hand) after he lost his adamantium were crushed by Cyber.
But due to Wolverine's healing factor the claws grew back over time. They looked
really weird for a few issues as they regrew.

Also, as far as I know (stop reading shortly after Wolverine digressed into
some stupid looking neanderthal who kept licking people) Wolverine and
Sabretooth ARE NOT related. Shortly after Sabretooth confronted Wolverine
and told him he was his father, they got a blood test done by S.H.I.E.L.D
and they revealed that Wolvie and Sabre were not related.

I guess one interesting trivia fact is that Wolverine is really
like 5ft tall or less (which really doesn't show in the movie)
