International edition textbooks?

Anybody ever bought them?

Yes all the time. They are usually the same material just printed black and white, with cheaper paper and bindings.

Sometimes however it's the exact same book, color, paper, just with a label on it that says do not sell out of region.

Yup, whenever I could I'd buy International instead of paying more for the regular version. Like newb111 said they are usually black and white with cheaper paper. Never had a problem with them, though.

They don't take them back at the bookstore so you can't resell them, which wasn't a big deal for me at least since the bookstore gives you jack for selling back books. There were times though when I couldn't get an Int'l edition or it was about the same as a regular edition, so I'd get the regular edition (still way cheaper than getting it from the bookstore), then sell that back, haha.

check the description, most sellers will say if its the same

like my operational management course book had different discussion topics and the teacher required us to read them, so I had to borrow a book for those assignments - but everything else, including the problems were the same

well you can just sell them directly to other students... something people can do with even regular textbooks for a slightly better price

I had to buy a book for my heat transfer class. $140 from the school bookstore, $10 + $16 shipping from ebay. The one I bought on ebay is softback instead of hard back (lighter in my backpack, woot) and is black and white. Besides that, there are no differences.

They're basically the same thing except that the books are not hard cover, there is no color, and the pages cheaper (no pun intended).

I bought them when I was in college... def a lot cheaper and in my case, they were the same exact book, color, etc... the only difference was that it was soft cover...

make sure the ISBN matches

Not all are like that.

My international edition physics text book is word for word identical to the US edition minus the cover art. It was hard cover too just like the US edition, and $100 cheaper.
