When I click on a link on a page the link opens the new page "minimized". I mean there is a tab for it in the system tray. I have to right click it and select "maximized" to get it to come up. They used to just come up maximized on the screen. I can't remember changing any setting. Can someone help me change this back?

Thanks, Mac

any idea why it would suddenly start doing this? I've been searching the internet and can't find a thing on it.

With IE open, size the window the way you want it to open new, hold down Shift and click the X to close the window. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Exactly what Jeff7 said! Or just fix the way you want your window size, then File, then Exit on all of the opened IE6 windows. Then open IE back up and things should be fine again. GL!

That doesn't seem to work. The problem is only on opening new pages by clicking on a link on a page. The new page opens only as a minimized bar in the system tray at the bottom. No window on the screen at all.

Hmm... Not sure if this will help, but try this - Go to Tools/ Internet Options / Advanced / make sure "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" is checked. Gonna look for other items also ...bbs

You can try the Tools / Internet Options / Programs "Reset Web Settings" button. Also I would delete all Temp internet files and Offline internet files and cookies. If you can / want to.
Then totally close out of I.E. then go back into it, and try your links. G/L!

If your brave, and the Reset web settings didn't work. You can try editing the registry -HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Document Windows - Maximized "YES"
Then restart your computer and try it. If that doesn't work, well I'm fresh out of idea's ;p

Thanks XRAIDER,
I tried all those things and it still didn't fix it. May browser does open up maximized though because of the registry change. <G>

Did you happen to check the following? Maximize the window, and then "restore" the size: did it stay onscreen, but resized? Or did it disappear - suggesting that the default position was somewhere offscreen?

If you're ok with it, you can merge the IE New Window Fix.reg file here into your registry. I use it whenever some website decides to reset the new window size for me. I'm also running WinXP Pro and IE6. You can open the file in Notepad first to see for yourself that I'm not trying to screw up your computer. Doing that is not exactly a priority for me.
