internet explorer history

Perhaps I should ask this in os, but I'll try here first

I'm the owner and primary user of my computer, but sometimes other people use it for the internet.
I recently did a windows update and got IE 5.5
Since then everywhere on the internet I type something I get a list of everything I've typed starting with that letter. I don't exactly want everyone to know everything I search etc. nor do I want to know what they look up.
I've disabled autocomplete, cleared history and deleted the tempory internet files, but it still does it.
Is there anything I can do to stop this short of reformatting and not updating to IE 5.5?

Just a thought, but have you unchecked the option in the Advanced tab of internet options that reads "Use inline auto-complete for web addresses"?

Yeah, I tried that. It works for the address bar, but doesn't for search engines etc.

To adjust AutoComplete settings

You can configure AutoComplete to save and suggest only the information you want. You can choose whether to use AutoComplete for Web addresses, forms, and passwords, or not use it all. You can also clear the history for any of these.

1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
   Click the Content tab.
   Under Personal information, click AutoComplete.
   Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you want to use.
