Dear all

I want to ask about internet security. Well I can't explain for details 'cause I don't know exactly about security is, but let me try to describe with my friend experience.
Well, I have a friend who has a cybercafe...a new one in my city.
His cybercafe just opened for 3 days, because after that someone has attacking his cybercafe with someting called "junoo" until now....more than a month he just closed.
I don't know how's the proccess, but maybe that's same experience with DALnet a few years ago(DDOS).
Someone has runing shell with static IP, than he runs ping with billion time to my IP's friend.

I want to ask, how's to make protection from atack like that?

Ones ability to protect against a DDoS is largely dependant on what resources they have available, and what they are capable of.

There can be any number of limiting factors like:
- What kind of connection was his business running on? A small connection (Broadband, T1, etc) would have almost no hope of fending off a DDoS by means of absorption and mitigation, the connection is just simply saturated at that point.
- What kind of equipment (router/firewall) does he use to terminate the Internet connection? Depending on the size of the connection and attack, there are things that could be done to determine the type of attack, possible where it?s coming from, and even take some preventive measures if you have the right equipment.


Knowledge?. Is key, one may not want to open an Internet business where they provide connectivity, without understanding more about the Internet risks, Networking, and Security.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Did he think he could have a cable modem and a wireless linksys router and say "hey, here's my cyber cafe"?

What kind of technical background does your friend have?
