internet sites redirect to "HTTP:///"

Whats going on. I go to a number of web sites using IE and when its loading there pages the browser automatically goes to HTTP:/// . Thats it. Nothing is displayed other than no web page blah blah bla but why do i get redirected here. It happens on sites that perfectly fine

do you use any anti-bloatware programs like Ad-Aware or Spybot? If not, you might want to download and use one of them, sounds to me like you have gotten your web browser jacked. I recommend the ad-aware because its easy and doesnt screw with stuff that might mess up your computer. It deep scans your registry and hard drive for crap-ware and gets rid of it safely, where Spybot is more of a experienced windows user program that will delete stuff that could harm your boot up process if not set correctly.

I use adaware but nothing. I mean the page is blank other than cant find blah blah blah but the address is "HTTP:///" no more and noless. Thats it

check the originating link and see what it says in the html before clicking it

FFactory0x, my brother's laptop does this too.
When I type in a url such as "charlesw.com" it replaces the url like this:
http:/// charlesw.com

Looks like something is missing with it.
Please let us know if you find a solution. I'll be looking too.

Check your registry for changes to these settings:


[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix] @="http://"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes] "www."="http://" "www"="http://"

nope nothing. Like im on ign.com and clicked a link and the page loads, then at the bottom of the screen i see it loading
127.0.0.1 which take me to a "http:///" This page cannot be displayed page. Something is hijacking something here

i had a problem similar to that just the other day. I don't know where or how it got there, but i was able to
cure it finally. I only use adaware normally like you.
I then downloaded spybot program, updated it and scanned. It found like 10 more odd spyware which i deleted.
then i ran windows update and did the other 3 updates and now my system works fine since then.
so i used to be and adaware only fan, but now i run spybot and adaware! lol
