Internet slows down after a day of use

I have a cox ultimate 300mbps connection. I use a Surfboard 6183 connected to a Asus RT-AC55U router. I have 21 devices on the network. Unfortunately I cant remove any of them. I get full speeds for a day and then it slows down to 100Mbps down/10 Mbps up. I then have to reset my modem and router and it goes back to full speed for a day.

I am trying to pin point what is the cause? I noticed the router seems to get hot whenever I go to reset it. But resetting the router alone does not seem to change the speeds. I have to reset both.

After 100mb/s speed tiers all you really end up doing is seeing how traffic and weather is like. That the main reason why I dropped my speed from 200 to 100. I actually wanted 50 or really (68) since I feel 75 is the sweet spot when you throw in real world devices running off wireless.

Anyhow there are other things that can come into play. The other is the cable company's connection to your home and how busy it gets. Even at 100mb/s at night after 8pm when everyone begins streaming in my neighborhood, I'm lucky if I can get that.

Don't sweat it though. 10mb/s vs 100mb/s doesn't mean that your Internet is 10x faster. It just means the delivery truck carrying Internet boxes to your house can carry 10x more. The travel time is the same. If I were you I really would reduce your speed to a lower tier if the money saved is right. In my situation 50mb/s was $5 less than 100mb/s.

I only got the higher tier because they were giving it at the same price as the 50mbps tier for 12 months. But I do love downloading 4-5gb files in under 10 minutes.

Are you running anything server-ey on your network, like BitTorrent?

It's probably just your modem being cranky.
