Dress in what you look good in. If you look better in a suit than business casual, then dress in that. The reason you are dressing up is to give a good first impression.

Attractive people have an edge in job interviews because naturally, people like to be around attractive people. Given a choice between two equally qualified candidates, the hiring manager will always take the more attractive one.

So I would say to dress in what you look best in, put on some concealer on those spots on your face, and do the best you can. Good Luck.

Personally I always go in a suit. I don't think there's been a time when I didn't for an interview. Maybe you could go loosened tie, top button unbuttoned, with sleeves rolled up a bit?

Wear a suit. I don't care what the recruiter has stated. You can't overdress for an interview. If you insist on being "business casual", wear a suit without the jacket. Don't be that guy who shows up in jeans to an interview.

Just out of curiousity do you guys find that a dress pant is too short for a person if the ends hangs up when the person sits down?

Anyway - I said fuck it and went halfway, went with a tie. The one guy in the interview was wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

I'd say it went well - no offer made on the spot but the way the response was worded, it seems like I should expect to hear back through the recruiter

That said, the next two interviews this week I'm going with my suit, due to the structure of the two other entities. This was the only time that I was so thrown off. It was set up so that culture seemed to override customs, and I didn't want to appear to be clueless of the culture. In some instances, I wouldn't doubt if a hiring manager would not hire someone wearing a suit when the work culture is jeans and t-shirts.

Can't say I own any concealer... my only compact holds eyeliner.

Could you have used a smaller picture?

Are you referencing the pant legs riding up, showing the socks?
I think that is basically standard, when the pants are fitted correctly. If they don't do that, I'd wager they must look rather baggy when standing.

I think your picture is way too small, but if the socks don't show when sitting down then the pants are most likely way too long. They should just rest on the shoe when standing, no bunching up at the bottom.

Can't go wrong with dressing corporate casual. But something about those first impressions. Let them know your serious by the way you dress, but no 3 piece suits if he's saying no tie is needed.

You can dump the suit coat and optional the tie, but at least have a dress shirt, etc.

After you get the job, then if an contractor, always dress one step up from the group.
