long story short, on june 21 someone from a different department requested to interview me for an opening on his team (no idea how he found out who I was). the position would be a big promotion (I have like 1/4th the experience of people normally in that role). he told me about the job, asked about me, etc. The interview went good/ok, not as smooth as I had hoped but he did seem to really like me. The person I would be replacing is moving to our Ireland office on October 1, but he wanted someone to shadow her for a fiscal quarter (Q3 starts Aug 1).
the following Monday (a week ago) I emailed him to thank him for his time and express again my interest. I haven't heard anything since. I saw him in passing last week and we exchanged "oh hey how are you?"s and then I saw him on the elevator today but I was mid-conversation with another coworker so I just gave another short "hey how are you?" and smiled.
do you think, if I didn't get the spot, HR or the guy would let me know? or would they probably only tell me if I did get it? this is my first corporate job, so don't know what's the standard procedure. thanks.
