FLASH FLASH [\H] I called CompUSA Friday, 2/2/01, inquired about the rebate, said I had read that Iomega officials said CompUSA had no right to say late rebate applications woudl be accepted. CompUSA CSR was telling me that Iomega would honor the rebate even though the form would arrive after the Jan. 31 deadline. I ask her to confirm that. She offered to get Iomega on the phone, I agreed. She got a 3 way conference call going with us and an Iomega CSR. The Iomega CSR said they typically, and in this case also, allow a ten day grace period for the rebate forms to come in. I asked if the materials had to be there by the end of the ten day grace period, or merely be postmarked by then. She replied that they had to be postmarked by then. So I am sending mine in today, Feb. 5, 2001. [\B]
I am debating whether or not to initiate a dispute with my credit card company just to get it on record. I don't want to abuse the priviledge to initiate disputes, and am encouraged to hear others are getting their rebates quickly. CitiBank credit cards have a 60 day window in which disputes must be initiated. I think it is 60 days from the billing date. I Will have to check to see when CompUSA billed me. Maybe my rebate will arrive before the end fo the 60 day dispute window, and I won't have to take that protective action.
