During the big deal with these drives with compusa it was discovered that iomega had switched oem suppliers. Or, perhaps was using more than one. The last I was keeping track it seemed like a switch to me.
The newer drives were/perhaps are being made by sanyo instead of plextor. Search and you'll find the 600 plus thread with all the info.
Not that I'm saying sanyo is bad; but, if you're thinking it's definitely a plextor...... maybe/ probably not.

Well, I deleted YUE NI's credit cards out of his "payment options" so nobody is going to be able to use his account to buy anything now; unless somewhere it listed the numbers of his cards, which I don't think it did.

Sorry to make you go through re-entering the payment information Yue, but the more publicity this thread gets the more likely you would have been ripped off by someone surfing these forums. I could have grabbed anything I wanted and had it delivered to a "freind's house"....

idkjs - there is a different rebate at the Iomega site which I added to my original post. I checked the fine print and don't see any mention of Staples. Other than that the rebates seem identical.
