Got the public beta Golden Master of iOS 10.0.1 installed and it's pretty nice. Lots of very noticeable changes and they're partially trying to reset font sizing in some areas to make things more readable.

iMessage is pretty buggy though. Also, a lot of the new features in iMessage don't work properly when sent to iDevices with older OSes, which kind of surprised me. I'd assumed the balloons were just animated images but they aren't animated for iOS 9 recipients, so it seems those balloons need a balloon framework integrated in order function properly.

Still exploring the OS but overall I'd say this is a very big update with some nice usability improvements, but it's definitely a work in progress.

They typically release the new OS alongside the new phone release, yes? I generally don't get the new iPhone on release but will be this year due to the promotion.

iOS 10 comes out tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 13). The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus come out on Friday (although a few people might get it Thursday).

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be running iOS 10.

I was reading through the features list and it mostly seems like filler garbage. I can add extra crap to imessages. Woo. Welcome to any messaging client years ago. I think opening siri to 3rd party is the only feature that interests me much. I hoped they improved siri overall though it is kinda braindead vs google now. Wish I could just replace the home button long press with it instead.

Yes, some of the iMessage stuff is crap. Furthermore, it doesn't even work properly right now.

However, the overall user interface for the OS like for notifications and access to the camera is much nicer.

I'm really REALLY hoping that Apple does not force apps submitted after tomorrow to be built against the iOS 10 SDK, because that requires upgrading to Xcode 8, which requires converting all Swift code to 2.3 or 3.0. I tried to do it this weekend with an app I've been working on the past few months and it was not a smooth process at all and I'm using a lot of cocoapods and some of them can't be used in their current state.

They don't even have a non beta version of Xcode 8 out yet, but I'm guessing tomorrow they will. I just REALLY REALLY hope they don't require all of that to submit apps starting tomorrow.

Well, that's cool, and creepy at the same time.

I was typing an iMessage where one line started as "I'm at" and a bar popped up which had the map symbol and "Current Location". I tapped it and it immediately sent a map of my location, but without asking for confirmation. It just went ahead and sent it.

On June 13, 2016, Apple announced that both the iPad 2 and the iPad (3rd generation) will not support iOS 10 due to their hardware limitations.

I like some of iOS 10 but the annoying part is the lack of confirmation for messages stuff. A lot of the stuff gets sent without me intending to send anything! That's *really* bad. On top of that, messages loads REALLY slowly in thread sometimes. I'll feel the vibration of a new message and it'll be 5-10 seconds before it appears. Wtf? Really bad stuff like that.

Tried it on my iPad Air, "Press Home to unlock" already makes me want to smash the thing on the corner of my desk. So the smart cover wakes it up, then I have to press the home button, then type the passcode. They actually made unlocking the device a PITA, incredible.

Restoring 9.3.5 right now.

I even validated our app and it passes validation which makes me REALLY happy because I was wondering if they would make you submit apps built against iOS 10 SDK which means we'd have to upgrade to Xcode 8 and convert to Swift 2.3 or 3.0, and I tried that this past weekend and it was not fun and I was unable to fully do it after 4+ hours.

Confirmed. AirPrint no longer works for me in iOS 10. The documents show up in iOS 10 as blank pages in the print preview, and blank pages come out of the printer, which is a Samsung Pro Xpress M3870.

The weird part it spits out the right number of pages. If it is a 3 page document, I get output of 3 pages. But they're all blank.

Not also that I can view the documents just fine in iOS 10. It's just that the print preview and printing does not work properly.

So far I am not thrilled with the changes. It now takes an extra step for me to unlock my phone and an extra button tap to reply to a text. Before you could just swipe left, now you have to swipe left and hit view or unlock. WHY???

Hmm.... It seems to be limited to Excel and Word documents. Works fine with PDFs and pictures.

imessages is all jacked up... it randomly freezes on me ONLY IF it had been plugged into my Macbook Pro, otherwise it is fine. only a reboot fixes it... terrible. In general the whole full screen stuff is terrible... imessage was so great in the past because how simple it was, now it is getting bloated. Again, would be nice for options to turn off some off the full screen stuff

one more imessage gripe, sending photos order is confusing with the two rows... no clue what order they used (can't tell what was the latest)

the home button thing is annoying too... why did they change this? they should atleast make it an option to turn it off (the having to press the home button after unlocking)

fyi... you can get the old home button way back... it is a preference (just found out myself)

Thanks Elganja and Kazukian, you just made my day. Now with my phone, I can just pick it up and basically graze the home button to get it to unlock (hell yea TouchID 2).
