Did WiFi calling work for you in iOS 9? I turned it off. The status display errors and weird disabling didn't happen, but the service itself was just unreliable on my carrier. It actually made things worse than cell alone.

Yes. It had worked on iOS 10 beta for months with my 6s Plus.

The metal roof at my current place blocks the signal, so my phone practically doesn't work at all without WiFi when I'm at home.

The app I've been working on the past 11 months has all of a sudden started to give my business partner a bunch of problems. But the timing we thought had to do with some changes we made to how the backend is being hit, but after reverting changes, he's still seeing issues. And then today I did some googling and it appears that there are some issues with iOS 10 and wifi. A quick google search brings up a lot of results.

I'm on an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.2, and I have an iPhone 5s running 9.2 and I have never seen these issues once. The other developer is on iPphone 7 and I believe on 10.0.2 but he is not having any issues either. Then the other guy is on an iPhone 6s+ on 10.0.2 and he is consistently seeing these issues. The first 5 or so minutes using the app it will be fine, but then he will randomly start to get network errors. We have a lot of backend calls being made, and randomly they will start to fail. And it isn't that his phone gets a bad response from the server, it's that his device isn't even communicating with the server. The response comes back nil which means it didn't even talk to the server for that call. But then the next call can hit the server just fine.

We also had him change his router from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz, and when on 5Ghz he used the app fine for a long time without any errors, then he did get 1. It may have been a legit hiccup, it may not have been, but either way that is better than what was happening befroe. On LTE he has never experienced these errors once.

So I'm curious, has anyone else been experiencing any of these issues on wifi, or anything similar?

No WiFi problems here with 802.11ac Apple Airport Extreme and iPhone 7 Plus on 10.1 beta 2 and iPhone 6s on 10.0.2.

Airport is set to auto, so both 5 and 2.4 GHz.

Mind you if it's just occasional errors leading to packet loss, we might not notice.

10.1 is out. Build number 14B72c, which is the same as the last beta. It still has Messages issues though. For example, if you want to forward a picture to an iMessage recipient, sometimes it will open up the iMessage thread for that recipient but lose the picture. Also, if you iMessage yourself with an animated iMessage, you will receive it three times. Very strange.

Photos still has the bug where sometimes it loses the ability to rotate. It just stays in landscape mode until you kill the Photos app and relaunch it.

Camera and Photos

Well, my phone just lost all connectivity to the carrier for like 20 minutes. Verizon, lower manhattan. My iphone 7 has been on 3g a lot. Not digging the ip7 at all. Thankfully its not my main device.

10.1 beta 3 probably doesn't include the Verizon update I don't think. Even 10.1 beta 4 probably doesn't include the fix.

The last 10.1 beta update was beta 5, and that came out the same day the 10.0.3 update came out. The 10.0.3 update (Oct. 19) is the one that fixes the Verizon issue. Presumably that was rolled into the 10.1 beta 5 update as well, since that is the release version of 10.1 (same build number).

No point in a beta or 10.0.3 since 10.1 is now officially out.

It would include the changes in 10.0.3, and there is no available beta past the official 10.1 build.

that is interesting... since beta 4 (iirc), my issues with LTE and Verzion has ceased to exist

here is something you can try (it was the workaround until they fixed it)... change your LTE settings to Data only (vs Voice and Data) and see if your issue persists

It would be interesting to see if that happens with Airport Extreme. In the old days I used to hide my SSID and for non-Apple routers, I'd sometimes run into this issue (eg. iPhone 4 IIRC). Finally, I just stopped hiding the SSID, and I also eventually bought an Apple router. All the occasional compatibility issues disappeared once I did that, not surprisingly.

looks like 10.1 fixed this bug. I don't control the WAP so I can't turn on SSID broadcast.

I thought Beta 4 fixed it for me. But when 10.1 came out it wanted to apply another carrier settings file.

For almost 4 weeks VZW have been having issues with connectivity. That's too long and I'd write a diatribe about how only Apple can sweep this sort of stuff under the rug and get away with it. But then again I'm appreciative that the phone doesn't explode in mid air.

I didn't have the issue but I disabled the Emoji keyboard for other reasons.

I don't have this particular problem, but I did notice that iMessage has crashed very occasionally, or else would have weird display bugs (like the text entry bar not showing up). This would happen about once or twice a week.

Back in the old days like iOS 7.1, this would NEVER happen.

P.S. After using those new iMessage effects a few times, I've stopped using them completely. Gimmick. I'd rather they just quash the bugs.
