iOS 6 yays and boos

Yay: for lock screen music controls of podcasts, they got rid of the previous/next track buttons which were way to close to the play button and replaced them with 15 sec forward/reverse buttons. Big welcome change, as before I would often accidentally rewind a 2 hour long podcast when trying to hit the play button, losing my saved position.

Boo: alarm snooze button still missing when you have notifications present - you still can't snooze an alarm if you have pending notifications, you can only unlock the phone which turns off the alarm completely.

Boo: traffic on maps is hard to read at a glance - they only show little accident indicator icons without highlighting the roads red.

What are your experiences so far?

Forgot to add one of the biggest "yays" of all: Not having to enter your password every freaking time you update apps or download free ones.

Not much yay yet. Maps is shit. Other stuff like fb intigration should have been there forever ago but yay, I guess. So far ios 6 is meh at best.

Seriously, what is up with the blue overlay? I don't mind it, I am just confused as to why it is there sometimes, but not others...

Facebook integration, meh. I consume facebook, I don't add to it (much). I prefer WP7's implementation.

You only get panorama on the 4s, 5 and new Touch I think.

I haven't played with Maps much yet, and I don't get many phone calls at all, so my phone is almost always in vibrate mode and right next to me.

I also don't tweet.

I am a bad smartphone user...

Siri is nicely improved and maps is good in my area. "Did the niners (instead of saying 49ers) win last weekend" and "tell me how to get to the nearest Panera Bread" works perfectly. Panorama is good.

Not any complaints so far but I was never a picky person.

I like the new brightness behavior. The lowest threshold slider is much more efficient on battery than the maximum setting slider, while not incurring a much of a visual penalty. Yay.

Siri is finally useful in Canada. Yay.

Shared Photo Streams is awesome. Yay.

My only boo is Maps. Seriously, not having transit information feels like 10 steps backwards, and honestly I don't find it all that better or cleaner looking than Google Maps. It's a good substitute for having lost Google Maps but seriously, transit directions are a must.

Yay:
Browsing is a bit faster I think.
Do not disturb.

Nay:
Maps. Well sorta. It's OK where I live, but some of the errors for those international locations are hilariously bad.
The OS doesn't feel faster. If anything, maybe slightly slower, but I'm not sure.

I have to say this is the worst major iOS upgrade ever.

How did they ever think releasing Maps like this was acceptable? Is something going on behind the scenes legally that we just haven't heard about yet?

Anyway, I only managed to update this morning so the only thing I've really fooled around with was Maps. Hopefully the rest is a step forward!

I'm kind of disappointed in a few of the changes. I hate the app store and music app's background being white, it looks like its an alpha build to me. Similarly, I don't like the top bar being light blue sometimes and black sometimes. It may just be me, but it drives me nuts.

Please let me put newsstand into a folder, I don't use it and am sick of looking at it.

I do like not having to enter a password for every update, that was a much needed change.

It's not driving me nuts, but it's annoying, because it reminds me of the "still-loading" light blue coloration of iOS 5.

eg. Go to your photos, select a pic, and click the share button.

Instead of just stuff like Mail and what not, now it will allow you to send it via facebook or twitter.

(However, since I use neither, I'd be just as happy to deactivate those options.)

Ok, now that I have used it for a bit here's my stuff based on how I actually use my device:

Yay!:
New updating process is much, much better than before
I like the look of the new stores
Performance feels about the same compared to before
The new look for Music is nice, I like it

Boo!:
-When you go back to your Library from Now Playing, it is where the currently playing song is in the list, so if you left the library at say... Little Lion Man, in iOS 5 when you went back to the library, it would still be on Little Lion Man. It enabled a kludgy way for me to listen to 1 song, and then immediately, without looking around, play the next song I wanted to hear. Now if I am listening to whatever, that song is where the list is. It's annoying.
-I can't switch my library to iTunes Match to download single songs from my library. It is all or nothing it seems.
-I can't delete songs from the phone any more, but I don't do that much anyway
-The blue menubar is inconsistent

The only thing I've noticed is that you can set your status from the notification shade.

Thanks, that did it. I notice that I already am signed in on the Facebook app, didn't realize I have to do it as well in settings.
