My battery life is killer on 6, on 7 I heard it wasn't that great. Any comment on that?

Ha! I was recently thinking "down to red again? my battery must be old and slowing dying. how many years have i had this thing? oh well..."

Could have been the iOS 7 all along! :hmm:

Sometimes I think the only way for version A to get better battery life is to release a new version B. Then all of a sudden people are like "damn version A had awesome battery life, why did they fck with it in B?"

And so on and so forth

Yep it's the IOS7. My battery drains so much faster than before. For what? for useless craps apple feels the need to have it run in the background.

Ars measured battery life and determined it was about the same as before for all devices except the iPad mini.

Note though after the update my iPhone and iPad defaulted to Bluetooth on for some reason. I had to turn it off. So check your Bluetooth.

Dunno why they added such slow and annoying animations in the first place.

Maybe it's because Jonny Ive was new at it and it felt good at the time.

The thicker fonts are definitely easier to read too.

From what I've seen in images, I'm not super crazy about the thicker fonts. I just wish they would adopt the keyboard from ShowCase (jailbreak app). With that, the keys reflect the current 'shift' state. So they are lower case most of the time.

Feels zippier on my 4S. I do regret ever upgrading it to iOS7; stuff like sending a picture in a message is SO SLOW now. It seems slightly faster in 7.1, but it can still take up to 4 seconds to load (just tested).

The small buttons are weird, like when dialing a number, but my guess is that's to prevent accidentally call presses before you're done typing the number.

Feels the same on my 4 - like speed has improved. However, when clicking on any grouped icons the corners aren't rounded for a second and then the animation kicks in. Not sure if you have that issue on your 4s.

I'm still getting weird battery % readings. I can go from 20% to dead in seconds. Or hang out at 1% for 15 minutes or so. Plug in the charger and go from 1% to 20+% almost immediately. Totally unreliable. And yes, I start my day at a full charge.

Well, ios 7.1 has rendered my companies app unusable. Getting certificate errors. Sent info to the dev and warned my users not to update their ipads until further notice.

Have you tried a reset?

7.1 fixes a lot of security bugs in the old version. Definitely test your apps with the iOS betas when they're released.

7.1 seems much more stable on my iPhone 5s.
It was annoying, because the iPhone 5s was crash prone even on 7.0.6, much more so than the iPhone 5.

I don't like this new fade-in-to-the-lockscreen animation when you turn it on though, esp. since it is buggy. Last night when I turned on the phone screen from standby, it faded into the lock-screen, but it stayed very faded. I had to hit the power button to turn off the screen and then turn it on again to get the proper backlight.

You might have a bad battery. Swap it out with a new one.

I've had that issue in 7.0, haven't upgraded to 7.1 yet.

Think I'm gonna go this route

I have the same problem, and unfortunately when you google the issue it is quite common. People have swapped their batteries without success.

In my case, if I wait, sometimes I can get the phone to turn back on and last another 1-2hrs. Depends how cold it is... that's really what seems to do it.

I finally got it installed on an iPhone 4. I haven't tested it a lot bit the lags seem less noticeable now. It's still not fast by any means but it's a noticeable improvement. From what I can remember, it's still not as fast as iOS 6.1.3, but it's much closer. The iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1 is what iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 should have been, but better late than never.

Note though that iOS 7.0.3 after a fresh reboot usually felt OK too. I guess as memory filled up, it bogged down. Not sure if 7.1 just doesn't bog down as much, or else the bogging down isn't as noticeable because it's faster to begin with. Probably the latter though or maybe both.

Still, even with 7.1, I think upgrading to it is only a no-brainer (for non-jailbreakers) on the 4S and up. With the iPhone 4, it's more of a decision. For me, the decision is to go with the more modern OS, and it's much easier now with the performance of 7.1, but not everyone would agree because of the performance issue (and/or because of the aesthetics).

Analogous to the iPhone 4S, my iPad 2 remains responsive, but it was already responsive on iOS 7.0.

I've had that issue in 7.0, haven't upgraded to 7.1 yet.
Which issue? The faded backlight setting at screen-on?

7.1 on 5S:

Browser doesn't constantly crash anymore
Keyboard contrast makes sense
New phone receive end buttons make sense

Battery life - horrible. Definite difference. Had to disable useless features like Siri (I realized I never use it and I mean never). Disabled location services for all apps except maps and google maps. Now it seems battery life is back to being decent.
