Can anyone actually update/upgrade to iOS 7? I've tried iTunes but it says I need iTunes 11.0.5. (Shows iOS 7 as available but tells me to download 11.0.5 but I can't) I'm running 11.0.5.5. I tried updating through my iPhone (Software Update) but it only either gives me an error trying to update, or shows me the 6.1.3

What iPhone version are you using?

Another thing I've noticed. I'm using an iPad 3 and the translucent effect on things like the slide up menu are just solid grey on mine. I've read that the effect was turned off on the iPhone 4 due to processor limitations, I guess the same is true for ipad 3's.

I upgraded iTunes to 11.1, which is the latest software.

Updated my my kid's iphones and one thing I noticed I do not like is the fact that the "find my iphone" can only be on primary icloud accounts now. I have multiple IOS devices, and each has it's own icloud account, but all have one account basically just for "find my iphone". I do that so I can view all of the devices from one screen. That's not possible now with IOS7. I ended up deleting the accounts and had to make my "find my iphone" account the primary, which isn't exactly what I wanted.

I know about the find my friends app too, but it doesn't do everything that find my iphone can.

6.1.2. Never updated to .3

RB, turn off your cellular data and wifi, check for over the air updates (it will fail obviously), then turn back on your cell and wifi and retry the over the air software update. This should do the trick. I had the same issue going from 6.1.2 to .3.

You don't need 11.1 to install iOS 7. You only need 11.1 to sync with iOS 7.

ie. You can use 11.0.5 to install iOS 7. However, once iOS 7 is installed, you can't sync with 11.0.5.

---

P.S. Be careful with your app store cellular settings in iOS 7, as the limit for downloads over cellular is now 100 MB.

Other than having to manually download and install iTunes 11.1, I found this installation very streamlined. I did not try OTA - I used my Mac to install on both my iPhone 5 and iPad 3. The change in appearance is a little jarring but in use I like iOS 7. It seems noticeably snappier than iOS 6, despite the fact that neither of my iDevices is less than a year old, and the user interface seems superior in my view.

I couldn't use 10.5 to install iOS7. It would require me download the latest version of iTunes which was no available from the automatic update. Plenty of people were having the same issue.

Anyone having stuttering issues with iRadio?

That's intended. You need the beta.

Weird but useful new hidden feature.

The Compass app now has a built-in level, on the second page of the app.

I like the zoom animation of the apps except this one part.

In the upper left corner you can see pixelization of the app text while zooming. Looks pretty bad.

That's what I did as well, worked great.

I'm very impressed, only put it on my iPT gen 5, only device I have that's not jailbroken. It's nice & fast, iTunes Radio is nice too, will be letting my Pandora acct expire when it's time to renew.

The dynamic wallpapers are pretty cool. When you tilt the phone the circles move towards that direction. It would be cool if you could use a scenic wallpaper and apply the weather effects they use in the Weather app.

So I managed to do the update. So far so good on my iPad2. Though honestly, I have been using it less and less since I got the HTC one and Kindle Paperwhite... But it's still snappy and smooth, though Safari reloading tabs after a while of not using is still very annoying. 512MB RAM is definitely too little.

I was able to download iTunes 11.1 without issue at noon cst however it took until 3 pm before iTunes recognized an update was available. Update took 30 minutes to download maybe 10 minutes to install.

I don't know if it's just me or because of a fresh install but iOS 7 seems to be faster than iOS 6 on my 4s and it came with 6 installed.

Based on the Anand review, I think it's because it includes a newer, quicker Java kernel. It definitely feels faster on my iPhone 5 than 6.1.4 did. Kind of nice when a major software update actually enhances speed on older devices rather than crippling them . . .

It's like a having a new phone. Almost the same feeling as installing faster processor/s and video card in an older computer.

The hardware, not software. Is it at least a 4?

Ended up getting it working this morning. Tried to do it via iTunes and it asked me to download iTunes 11.1 (not sure what was going on last night with 11.0.5). Downloaded and installed that and iOS7 finally.

So far - slick interface. I'm using just an iPhone 4, but haven't noticed much/any lag. Cool interface. Finally glad they put in this control panel thingy...it's been around for 3+ years with SBSsettings for unlocked iPhones. Better late than never though.

Yea, at this point the only thing I feel like I'm missing from Jailbreak is ShowCase (shows lowercase letters on the keyboard unless you press the 'shift' key), and SwipeSelect (allows you to swipe left and right on the keyboard to move the text placement cursor)

ShowCase was great, and I miss it a lot. SwipeSelect... I get a little sloppy with my typing apparently, so it would on occasion cause the cursor to jump around, especially on the iPad.

I enjoyed SwipeSelect. Let's hope a Jailbreak comes out soon enough
