Wow. Based on the screen dimensions, that's either a 4 or a 4S, right? That's really impressive. I'm lucky if my 5 lasts 3 days.
iPhone 4

No partial charges in the last 11 days? Also, what kind of usage?

For me on my 5s I get standby of about 2 days and change with regular email and surfing (like posting on AT as I am now) with some calls and photos thrown in. Maybe 3 days max.

My last charge was after 2 days and 20 hours and 8 hours active use.
If you plug it in at all it will tell you that. I did not charge it once.

I used it watching some videos on Youtube, reading, listening to music, text, etc. Screen Brightness is in the middle and background refresh is on.

I think the battery life got better with the last update. It seems about the same as iOS 6 now.

Like I said before... I prefer Android OS, but you cannot beat this battery life on the iPhone.

That said if you were buying new, there is no question I would recommend the 5S over the 5/5C. The fingerprint sensor is wonderful, and the camera is a big improvement.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised he didn't like the fingerprint thing - number one, it's such an easy way to login to the phone, and number two, of course there aren't apps for it yet, it's brand-new, so the functionality needs time & Apple's blessing to grow.

I'd love to have more functional fingerprint systems like Apple's on computers, tablets, doorknobs, car doors, etc.

Article: Why I Returned My iPhone 5s

http://www.informationweek.com/mobility/smart-phones/why-i-returned-my-iphone-5s/240162771

He makes some excellent points:

1. He paid full-price ($900 off contract) for a phone that didn't perform any differently in real-life usage from the iPhone 5, save for the fingerprint sensor
2. The iPhone 5 was not buggy on iOS7; the iPhone 5S crashed a lot
3. He felt that Apple should offer yearly design updates instead of every two years

I wonder about that too. Everyone else is getting big, gorgeous screens with great battery life on Android & Windows phones. We still don't even have Swype or Swiftkey on our keyboards. I wasn't feeling behind previously with the iPhones I've had, but I am now! Plus 7.0 was buggy, 7.0.1 was buggy, and 7.0.2 is buggy, all with weird design elements.

Again, I still have no desire to jump ship, but when you're worth $100 billion+, the user experience matters a LOT. Not updating the phones physically, releasing buggy updates, and having weird new design language...welp. Yeah.

1. Current software/apps don't take advantage of the A7. That's not Apples fault, the apps will come. If you're doing something heavy like encoding in iMovie it takes half the time vs an A6.

2. Most likely due to 32 and 64 bit compatibility.

3. Why should they offer this? A solid design is solid. I actually think iOS7 is a step back on the design front.

If you mean large screens, then yes Apple does not offer that. The 5's screen is still very nice. As for battery life, the iPhone has always been a leader and it wasn't until recently that Androids got good battery life.

If you want swift or swype, you're not gonna find it on the iPhone. Overall, if you want the iPhone to be an Android phone, why not just get an Android phone?

Why does it matter what Apple is worth? Its easy to say they're not doing anything when in reality they're doing a lot. IMO, you can't get a more straight forward and solid device like the iPhone.

I think it's the point that there is far better technology available that Apple is not utilizing. Inputting text on a swipe-style keyboard is amazingly fast. Part of the reason I'm complaining about it is that iOS7 took a nosedive when it comes to autocorrect. Over the past 5 years or so of owning an iPhone, I've let myself become a very lazy one-finger typer because of the fabulous auto-correct capabilities in the previous iOS releases; iOS7 has been horrifically bad for me in terms of changing the text to what I want. It puts in completely random words even when I type things in correctly, REALLY weird and very frustrating because I used to whip out SMS & emails and stuff and now I have to very carefully type and review what I type to make sure it was what I wanted to say

I honestly cant see what about the minor amount of motion animated would make someone sick. Is it the paralax? Or something else? Can you show an example? Not trying to downplay or anything, just want to know what exactly is causing folks issues.

Not an issue for me.

When I first got my PC back 1996? I had savage headaches when playing Descent 3D but I got over that though by playing more lol

The zooming-in-icons motion is gone if you turn on "Reduce Motion". However, it's replaced by a fade-in animation.

Is it working any faster on iPad 2's??? If it still slows down the iPad 2's, yet they still have retained them for sale as of today's release, then that is friggin hilarious!!

If you turn off the eye candy there is no significant increased lag on the iPad 2 IMO. The problem is the iPad 2 is slow to begin with, at least in apps like Safari, for complex web pages.

For this reason and because of the lack of Retina, I don't actually recommend the iPad 2 as a new purchase, but if you already have it, then most definitely upgrade it to iOS 7, since if you're fine with it in iOS 6, in terms of speed you should be fine with it in iOS 7 too. But again, that's if you turn off the eye candy. It's a bit slower with all the eye candy turned on. I explained how to turn off that stuff in the thread you linked.

OTOH, you may not like the colour scheme of iOS 7, but that's a different argument.

The betas were a little laggy, and a couple of apps that I have are laggy (most likely because they are too resource hungry) but with 7.0.2 on there, my iPad 2 is just fine, no complaints.

I'll have to install the latest update on my iPad3. iOS 7.0.0 makes the device so slow I don't even want to use it anymore.

It'd be interesting to compare an iPad 2 vs the iPad 3 side by side. I wouldn't be completely shocked to find the iPad 2 is less laggy. It has a 1 GHz A5, while the iPad 3 has a 1 GHz A5X. My understanding is the CPU part on both should be the same, but the A5X gains a faster GPU. However, it's possible that A5X is just not sufficient to make the Retina iPad 3 feel as responsive, since it still takes CPU power to do some of the computations necessary for Retina.

In other words, the Retina iPad 3 is analogous to the laggy Retina 2012 13" MacBook Pro, where even machines a couple of years older feel faster since they have no lag on their non-Retina screens.

Just a guess though.

IMO the iPad 3 has always been a touch slower than the iPad 2 because it has to work so much harder to do the same things.
