I installed it on my AT&T iPhone 4S.

You know that sluggish feeling you get when you've probably upgraded your OS too far? I get it on the 4S. Pulling up Control Center, Notification Center, the multi-tasking screen, launching Siri, even the animations when opening apps is rather choppy. I think it might need more RAM, or it could just be the unoptimized first Beta.

Some of the action icons will take some getting used to. The GPS buttons weren't obvious at first because they are just plain text without a box.

The MLB At Bat app does not work. It crashes while loading.

Overall, it does seem prettier and slicker than the old interface.

It looks like they are trying to copy Windows 8 with the flat monochrome trendy nonsense.

I actually really like the Windows phone GUI...the animation is great & the flat look actually looks really nice. I won't just iOS7 until I get a hands-on.

Ugh, I hope not. The last iOS update my iPad 1 would take was 5.whatever and it's a total slug now. It was nice & zippy until the so-called "planned obsolesce" updates made their way onto my machine. I don't have any need to upgrade to the iPad 2/3/4/Mini because the iPad 1 is (was) working so well for what I use it for, but yeah - too much OS haha.

If that's the case for the go-live version of iOS7, I'm not upgrading. I'll hold out on iOS 6 forever

You reverted to the 4S after the purple flare thing, right?

If it's that bad on the 4S I'm scared to see what it's going to do to my wife's 4.

I just dug a 4 out of a drawer and wanted to give this a whirl. But i am too cheap for the $99 dev. registration.

There are dozens of other sites that offer to register your device for somewhere between $4-7 each, but that seems very dodgey..

I've got it ok a 4S and a 5. The 5 is noticeably more smooth than my 4S. In fact on my 5 I really don't notice any of the sluggishness that I see with the 4S.

This could be unoptimized for older devices being that its beta 1. I'll still roll with it on the 4S as it isn't bad and is still very useable. Reminds me a little of android. Lol.

For $99 you can register up to 100 devices. So they pay $100 for the account, charge $4-7 per device and profit a decent sum. Technically this against the Eula from my understanding but I know people that go this route and have no issues.

Yes. If they fix it in the 5S, I'd be happy to upgrade again. Overall I did like the camera better on the 5, but the purple flare killed me since the camera is the #1 thing I use on my iPhone. It seems it's still an issue on existing 5's tho - people at work get them occasionally and I check them out to see if the flare is still there and it is. Oh well.

It hardly bugs anyone who has one, but since I use the camera a lot, it drove me nuts.

The newer 5's don't have the blue sapphire lens cover. I bought a 5 in mid December and they already made the change. I don't have any significant purple flare issue with mine.

Does the new iOS support Flash web content?

Yes, I too am concerned about my wife's iPhone 4 with iOS 7, but the good news is both the 4 and the 4S have the same 512 MB memory.

My guess is that at release, the 4S with iOS 7 will be OK but not exactly fast, and the 4 with iOS 7 will be slow.

Nothing can be as slow as my iPhone 3G with iOS 4 though. The iPhone 3G only has 128 MB RAM.

There's some videos up, although they'll probably disappear soon due to NDA:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57588632-37/ios-7-hands-on-videos-leak-out-onto-the-web/
Looks like a knockoff of Windows Phone 8 but better, with some Android elements thrown in. Very different feel (at least looking at the videos) than previous versions of iOS. (Note: While I have a lot of experience with Android, I don't have much experience with Windows Phone 8. I've only played with it briefly in-store, and watched some videos on it.)

Hmm... From another thread:

OMFG! I just totally destoyed my iphone 4! Seriously, ios 7 totally crippled my ip4. It is completely and totally slow and useless. Looks nice tho. Wondering if i should put on my 5.

Well, I am not too sure about the better part. Unlike the WP8 design, I see a lot of confusion in the iOS 7 screens i have seen so far. Styles and language used are inconsistent - there is no real 'foot print' and it seems they taken some inspiration here, there, and then tried to merge that.

Well, it took my 2 year old about 3 extra seconds to figure out the lock screen without a slider .

I on the other hand will take longer to adapt to the mail app.

The mail app doesn't really seem any different except for the visual style. Everything is still in the same place.

Been running it on my 4S all day. For a nearly two year old phone I've got no real complaints. Run's pretty well. There is some slight sluggishness. Also keep in mind this is my work phone so I don't use it for everything. Phone calls, texts, email, calendar and reminders are it's primary functions.

My 4S is my primary computing/communications device (aside from my workstation). I use it for EVERYTHING, so I hope iOS7 works great on it.

reportedly beta 1 is not checking UDID, and you can manually downgrade to the last 6.1.3

You'd lose any jailbreak though.

Interesting. I have read otherwise, though. Can you link to where its reported?

I will try tomorrow.
