reportedly beta 1 is not checking UDID, and you can manually downgrade to the last 6.1.3

You'd lose any jailbreak though.

I was able to downgrade back to 6 from a botched install of 7.

Actually one can download the beta ipsw and then in iTunes (windows) hold shift and click "Check for update" and then select the ipsw. Your phone will update to iOS 7 without checking udid or for developer status. This is the same technique as in iOS 6.

The only real sluggishness that I find annoying on my 4S (so far anyway) is the lag to open the multitasking screen.

So using it on a 5, it's definitely slower than iOS 6. It does lag and it does freeze. I've even had it reboot 4 times on me. iRadio shows me ads even though I use iTunes Match. The music app has a hard time loading iTunes match data. Text in some apps does not show up. Some apps crash during certain functions.

On the positive side the interface, while ugly, is a LOT more thought out now. The back swipe alone is great. The UI is designed to maximize the amount of text/content visible on the screen.

I thought we were also told that the control central would be app context aware. It isn't currently in the browser at least. The new auto full screen in the browser is kind of clunky and laggy right now. Tab switching is a bit buggy and slow.

The multitasking cards are great but lag in the beta. Sometimes they freeze.

This was my experience of it so far. Maybe because I upgraded instead of set up as new. Is it the same for others? If not I'll try a clean install and iCloud restore.

I got it on an iPhone 4 and its pretty slow. Look wise, it's a hit and miss. Some things look stunning, others look childish or too clip art to me.

My biggest pet peeve is that the back button in the top left is no longer encapsulated so it looks like a web hyperlink. I think this was a bad design move. I want my buttons to look like buttons!

I did an update on mine, and then restored from an iTunes backup. iPhone 5 on Sprint:

-Signal is the same, as is browsing speed
-iTunes Radio is decent, the only ads i'm hearing at this point are placeholders 'Next up, something awesome on iTunes Radio' basically. My guess is that since it isn't fully rolled out yet, those are there to test the system.
--It is not currently remembering my settings (hate it/love it)
--When you create a station, it seems to have a limited number of songs, and loops back too quickly (I listened almost all day at work yesterday, and heard some of the same songs 3+ times)
-In the Music App, I can't find the star ratings anymore, I use those as rough metadata, but for people that use them for their real purpose this could be a problem
-Safari seems about the same speed, and it is taking me some getting used to on the tabs page. You can swipe them off the left side of the screen to dismiss them
-Still no delete/backspace button on the calculator app... sigh
-The compass now has a built in level, it's on a second page
-Sometimes when I unlock with a double click it doesn't bring up the playback controls
-YOU CAN NOW PUT NEWSTAND IN A FOLDER!!
-However, due to the new zoom in/out paradigm that they are using, you end up zooming out and out and out to get back to the homescreen
-I am hoping that the edge swipe is the first step towards a universal BACK button sort of thing. I still miss that from Windows Phone
-Only 1 crash so far, and no noticeable lag or sluggishness on my end.
-I don't like how there are fewer icons in the folders even if the side effect is that you can now cram more apps in a folder
-The parallax effect is freaking me out
-I'm having trouble putting into words exactly how I am having trouble with the new keyboard

More as I think of it/come across it. All in all, I am liking the new OS and the direction that it is set in.

if you had ios6 on your 4 before, how does it compare as far as the speed of the ios goes? is it a lot laggier than ios6? because ios6 definitely hiccups for me a bit, compared to ios4 that i was on before.

It's slower than iO6 on the iPhone 4. Remember this is beta version. I've never tried beta iOS6.

I have it running on my 5. So far I have experienced only apps trying to update and just sitting there. Otherwise its fast, no crashes, etc.

And it does check UDID. I installed it, it said my phone wasnt on a developer account. I added the phone. It worked fine.

-Today I am noticing the iTunes Radio ads that sxr7171 mentioned, no longer placeholders. But my theory still stands, which is that they are testing the entire Radio system, iTunes Match or no. Also, the selection is better today, but there are still more than a couple of repeat tracks. Not sure if it is remembering my love it/hate it settings yet.

I will wait until a different build before installing IOS 7 ... they obviously have some tweaking to do

For $99 you can register up to 100 devices. So they pay $100 for the account, charge $4-7 per device and profit a decent sum. Technically this against the Eula from my understanding but I know people that go this route and have no issues.

Do you know the name of any of these resellers?

Thanks!

It is very laggy on the 4. Not much fun to tbh.

It worked fine without UDID. Plugin, itunes, iphone tab, [shift]+update, ipsw, watch, done!

I've had it reboot a few times now while in 3rd party apps and a few of my apps don't load at all.
Also, I don't know if it's just me but calendar month view does not show dots for my events.. that is my most annoying issue so far.

It is not necessary to register your UDID.

1) Download firmware for your specific phone
2) Open iTunes.
3) Plug in your iDevice
4) In Windows, press SHIFT+CHECK FOR UPDATES (for Mac, press OPTION+CHECK FOR UPDATES) NOTE THAT THIS STEP IS CRITICAL. DO NOT SELECT RESTORE IPHONE OR YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE.
5) Select the ipsw.
6) Follow the prompts and enjoy iOS 7.

I've been using betas since iOS 5 and this is probably the least stable ever. Don't install it on granny's iPad.

I've installed it on a iPhone 4S at work. At first, it seemed very sluggish, but the more I use it, the more it seems to be keeping up. I can still see some stuttering during visual transitions.

One thing that seems to be added that I'm pretty excited about, and had actually submitted feedback on, is that when you start a timer, the lock screen will give you a countdown. It's a little wonky right now, as the date overlays it and messes it up for a few seconds, but at least it's there.

I imagine that as time passes Apple will be tweaking and optimizing code so that it winds up running smoother on lower spec'd hardware. Beta code typically has "bloat" in it due to lack of optimizations and debugging and whatnot.

iOS 7 releases this Fall might be perfect time for me to upgrade to iPhone 5S. I don't have to worry about lags on my iPhone 4S.
