Synced folders are exactly as they are on the computer. You can't change them on the phone.
I synced it once just to get the pictures on there.

Is there an easy way then just to get certain pictures on to the phone where I can organize them freely?

We were just given an iPhone 4 to test our app on. Has iOS 7 on it. Thing runs slowwww. There's quite a bit of lag if you tap the home button to quit an app. Everything else is just very sluggish. Brings back bad memories of trying to run iOS 4 on my 3G.

I do like the quick settings menu. It doesn't quite replace BossPrefs but it's a start. Had to hunt around for the search menu a bit. It's in a weird place. Find myself bringing up notifications instead if you don't have your finger in the right place. Don't know why they didn't just leave that were it was. As for the changes to the GUI, I do actually like the look of it, and the multitasking is A LOT better than previous versions.

My big beef with Apple is they do push out iOS updates to older phones that can't quite handle them. A little more than a subtle nudge to get you to buy a new device, by pretty much breaking your old one. I'd rather just not get the update.

I'll probably put iOS 7 on my 4S and iPad 3 if/when the jailbreak comes out. Think I mentioned it before but I do use a few legit jailbreak apps. Especially on my iPad.

Change the performance settings as I recommended. It does help. Specifically, shut down the background actions, and turn on "Increase Contrast" in the Accessibility settings, which turns off transparency.

It still won't be fast, but it's decent enough to be usable, and much, much better than trying to run iOS 4 on a 3G. (I have both the 4 with iOS 7 and the 3G with iOS 4.)

And here's another repost of my iPhone 4 with iOS 7 video:

The problem with doing that it that it doesn't save a copy of the image to your gallery. You can only pull the low resolution version you MMS'd at that point.

I'm pretty sure they go into the Camera Roll regardless. Also, if you're messaging someone with iMessage, they go across in a much higher resolution. That can be a bad thing at times as you can end up like my friend's wife who was using 18GB as "other data".

No, they don't. If you're in the messaging app and take a picture, it is sent for that recipient only and is not saved to your camera roll.

...unless they changed this in iOS6/7.

I didn't know you could do that

My 10.6 cd should be arriving today but the kicker is that my net is really slow so it'll take hours to download the new itunes . There is road works outside my house and I think they are messing up the phone line. The cable companies are suppose to have it all rewired within the next 4 weeks.

iOS7 saga...

Updated to iOS7
Itunes too old but I can't upgrade as I'm running 10.5
I buy 10.6, wait to get my dvd
They miss delivery,
Second delivery on Wednesday and they don't turn up (UPS) but they said they tried to deliver. They did not as I was in all day
I go to the depot to pick up the DVD
DVD drive on my Macbook is having huge issues reading the disk. It spits it out often and maybe 1/10 attempt it reads it.
I have an SSD in my HD that I cloned last xmas when I upgraded.
10.6 is bitching that my partition type is not GUID
Clone SSD to another HD
Format SSD to GUID and clone back
Upgrade to 10.6
Upgrade iTunes to 11
Restoring everything pre iOS7!

I've had SAVAGE internet issues and I am getting 0.6mbit and it seems to cut out in the evenings. Road works in my area.

Thanks for reminding me EUG to get my pics/ videos off the phone before I restore it as I would have forgotten. f0ck, still forgot to get my last 4 pictures off it oh well, nothing too major. Just have lost my 23rd week progress pics.

I know for a fact in iOS6 and 7 it does this. I can't remember if it does in iOS5, but I am pretty sure it did as well.

I have a question about the home icons' opacity. With my background, the 4 home icons at the bottom have a dark gray color behind it which just looks horrible. I'm looking for a way to change the opacity so that the actual homescreen background comes out more.

Here is my homescreen currently:

See how you can see the background on the 4 home icon is so dark? Anyway to change that so it's lighter and allows the actual background to stand out more? Just looks bad when you have your background and then boom, a line cutting it off.

I didn't notice this until I saw your pic. From the looks of it, it tries (poorly) to match the background color. Mine is slightly lighter. I hope you can change the opacity, because at anything other than 100% opaque, it looks terrible.

Every picture I've taken is in my Camera Roll. I don't know what quality they are, but I don't use my iPhone as a real camera alternative anyway. I have a DSLR that is much, much better than any iPhone and I have film cameras I wouldn't trade for anything digital.

Well, I just tried it and it is saving to my camera roll in both iOS 6 and iOS 7.

I don't know when that changed but I know that, at one point, pictures you took in Messages app were not saved to your camera roll. I've avoided doing this for years because I very specifically remember a couple of times that I had went and looked for a photo and could not find it because it was done in the Messages app.

I am pretty sure it was before iOS5 that it had done that. I remember iOS5 doing this. I can't remember if iOS 4 did this though. I know my iPhone 4 did this, but I can't remember if it always did. I got my 4 when the Verizon version became available though, so it could have been added in iOS4 before then.

^ iOS 4 did not have iMessage at all.

It is only available on iOS 5 or later.

I'd have to do some looking to find out when it changed. Like I said, it's been years, probably while I was still on a 3G, that I trained myself out of doing it because it bit me a couple of times.

From whatever time I was able to send MMS through the Messaging App, it has been saving my pictures on Camera roll. So, unless this was an iMessage feature entered, it worked the same.

I find it amusing reading threads about people complaining about their iOS devices (usually older ones) being slower on 7.x. I have to wonder if this is by deliberate design to accelerate obsolesce. Its not a new trick as Microsoft and Intel have been playing their reindeer games like this for 25 years.

I guess they did the same thing to force everyone to give up their Apple ]['s and IBM 5150's

It is definitely slower on my 4S. My wife is still on 6 and I've seen 7 side-by-side. What's new? Super duper GUI animations? The apps are all the same, just a point change on the OS.

Update after more use: Lower slider is a mistake or at least poorly executed. I find myself accidently swiping it up while scrolling far more than I use it intentionally. Activation of the menu is really uneven: some swipes do it and some do not.

I like the look but I'm finding iOS 7 to be less satisfying to use.

I literally can't use my music player controls unless I use the music app. It's driving me fucking INSANE.

No issues on the fiance's 5s, but bullshit on my 4s.

I guess I'm in the minority that is decidedly not impressed with ios7. So much so I'm holding off on purchasing the 5S at this point.

Visually the OS is just not a step forward in terms of usability. My phone is less intuitive and actually more difficult to use now. The control center is something I barely use and the card system for multitasking doesn't address my main issue with the OS which is a lack of true multitasking.

I'm holding onto the 4S for now until someone really stuns me. Whether that be Android or WP. The holiday months should hopefully bring forth some good options.

I was not impressed with iOS 7 either. I took it off my iPhone and am on iOS 6.1.3.

As usual, it's Apple's way or the highway.

You can remove iOS 7 from an older device. If you don't like it though and want to upgrade your phone, you will most likely need to switch phones. The new phones may only run with iOS 7.

You can't really remove iOS 7 from any Apple device now.

I haven't tried iOS 7.0.2 but I removed iOS 7 from my iPhone with ease.

I posted this in the other thread:

Here is what I did for my iPhone:

1. Take pictures of how your stuff is organized so you can get it back to how you had it.
2. Made a backup
3. Uninstalled iTunes 11.1
4. Installed iTunes 10.7
5. Erased and started over
6. Installed the max iOS from iTunes 10.7 gave me iOS 6.1.3
7. Restore from backup

It may not work for his device but it worked for my iPhone. It is worth a try.
