Is it me or were underlined links never broken like this before? Can someone on pre-iOS 8 check? It'll help me sleep
The links aren't actually broken into two separate links, are they? It looks like it's just a visual formatting choice.

nah, not two separate links; just the characters that hang below the underline now break them up visually. and i was able to check on a device at work running 7.1 and they weren't like that before (i thought i had missed it completely before).

8.0.2

I'm sure Steve Jobs would've fired whoever let that through.

I think it was last weekend they stopped signing 7.1.2.

Yep...I started using it again and the speed/lag was irritating me. Didn't have time to mess with it last weekend - we were getting the baby's room ready.

Ya, I am NOT upgrading any time soon. I was a little leery of going from 6 to 7 but it ended up being ok after a couple late-adopter updates.

But 7 to 8??

Not right now, anyway.

I've been using 8 since early beta. Its fine. Not much difference. I've had a few stability issues with the release version. It wouldn't go back to the home screen or the multi-task screen. I could pull up siri though and tell her to open apps. Really weird. Had to reboot. I'm not super picky with my OS, so its fine.

I keep having problems with apps constantly requiring me to enter my password, which I hate doing. For example, I opened the Lockitron app earlier today, had to log in, which meant I had to open 1Password to even get my password. However, 1Password, which is set to a 30-day reset for Touch ID, required me to enter my master password, and after that, I was finally able to get my password for Lockitron. I use Touch ID for a reason, and that reason is not so I can have fun entering my passwords. :|

I'm not 100% sure if this is an issue with iOS 8, but according to this post on the 1Password forums, it seems to be an issue with the app getting an error when it tries to access the iCloud Keychain.

Good plan. Maybe 8.1.

Congrats on the coming little one! We also had a little addition to the family. He just arrived in the last few days and I was on the iOS 8 release over a week early so I had quite a bit of time to test out iOS 8. Made the decision to downgrade the iPad 2 before iOS 8.0.1 was out.

I have it on my 5s for interest's sake but in retrospect I should have kept it off my wife's iPhone 5. She's had various issues as a consequence of iOS 8 bugs that didn't happen in 7.1.2. Performance of iOS 8 is good on the iPhone 5 though, unlike on the iPad 2.

One issue thats popped up for me on a few devices is randomly (seemingly) the orientation for some apps will get messed up and stick that way until i hit home and then go back to the app, very annoying.

It looks like an intentional design choice. I think I like it better than what was in 7.1, since the chars touching the line looks kinda sloppy.

I agree. Looks better now. However, the keyboard is still buggy as hell for other reasons, like the cursor placement being out of whack at times.

I had a weird bug where the text buttons of the camera remained upside down even when I righted the phone, and when I took pictures, they came out upside down. Fixed with a relaunch though. Similar to your app orientation issues?

Thanks! 6 lbs 12 oz, so a little guy. (Two weeks early though, so near average for gestational age.)

No iDevices for this guy though yet. However, our 2 year-old daughter now tries to click on the thumbnails in Netflix on my TV, because she thinks the TV is one giant iPad and that those thumbnails are icons.

Speaking about babies and iOS, I just noticed that our babycam app has just been updated to iOS 8. Live Cams Pro 4.0.1 just came out and now requires iOS 7 at least.

The iOS version march goes on. With iOS 8's release, even iOS 6 is getting dropped now. For those of you still on iOS 6 on your iPhone 4, time to start considering upgrading. Luckily you can still upgrade those to iOS 7.1.2 (since iOS 8 is not available for it). That said, performance-wise, I still think iOS 6.1.3 is still probably the sweet spot for the iPhone 4. iOS 7.1.2 just makes 7 more tolerable, since 7.0 was more laggy.

This is my favourite iOS IP cam app. I tried a few others and the support wasn't as good, and some of them were not that stable. For example, one I tried had a nice interface, but would lose the link to the cam after say an hour or two. Not ideal. This one is stable, although I have to make sure now that the audio is on. Previous versions had auto-audio-on, but I think with the 4.0 update matched with iOS 8 (and not fixed with 4.0.1) the audio will shut back off the 2nd time you load the app after initial launch, so you have to manually toggle the audio. At least with my TrendNET camera that is.

I am on the latest update (8.0.2?) and a weird bug happened this morning.

Instead of my alarm going off at 7am, voice control kicked off and then tried to auto dial a person in my contacts.

Copy and paste is definitely borked. It keeps flashing on screen when I choose it then immediately disappearing, meaning I can't paste anything.

And I'm now convinced that with my usage, the battery life is worse.

I've upgraded to 8.02 on my iPad 2 and battery life is, in fact, much improved (it wasn't just my wife playing games on it). Copy & paste isn't as borked as it is for you, but copying large and very small sections of text is much more difficult than with IOS 7.X. I hope Apple takes enough time on 8.1 to get it right.

iOS 8.1 comes Monday. So no, they didn't spend a huge amount of time with it. That doesn't bode well for performance boosts either.

It will be nice to get the camera roll back though. WTF were they thinking removing that?

One of my household's iPhones was put on 8.0.2 and is having issues; audio doesn't work consistently and neither does screen rotating. I am now 0/3 for upgrading to OSes on apple devices without having a major problem. The previous two times (upgrades from 6 to 7) in one case required a complete rebuild of the device, and in both cases the performance was markedly worse than with IOS6. I will wait to upgrade my other devices until there become a number of apps, or a must-have, that require an upgrade for some reason to 8.

Anyone install 8.1 on an iPad 2 or original iPad mini yet? If so, how is the performance vs 8.0.2 and 7.1.2?

What about the iPhone 4S too?

I installed iOS 8.1 on my wife's mini (original) and it runs fine. Biggest feature for her is SMS relay.

Did you run 8.0 on it before? 8.0 was really laggy.

I'd love to use SMS relay but don't want to use imessage. Unfortunately, Apple refuses to allow SMS relay without iMessage active.

I also tried Yosemite phone calls but the audio want working correctly. However that was with 8.0.2. Maybe 8.1 fixes this.

So Swiftkey and Swype still really suck compared to their Android counterparts. I can't reliably swipe type on the iPhone without running into annoying issues that keep popping up. How much longer do you think we will have to wait before it improves?
