Honestly, I read a bit of this thread and could have sworn I was in a Microshaft forum.

I just bought an iPad 2 retina about 2 months ago. It came with 7.1.2. It sounds like I should stick with what I have vice upgrading. It runs smoothly and has never given me any problems.

I'll wait for Windows 10 ...
What the heck is an iPad 2 retina?
New ipad? AKA ipad 3?

I think he meant it was an "iPad mini 2nd generation Retina."

It's amazing how a thread can be derailed by simply leaving out one word ...

I scratched my head a little bit. Figured out what you meant before anyone said anything (I also have a mini 2 Retina). I should have posted an "FTFY" and it would have avoided some of these extra posts.

Add this one to the list of derailed posts...

Public beta of iOS 8.3 is coming in a couple of weeks. (iOS 9 public beta to come this year too.)

http://9to5mac.com/2015/02/20/ios-9-public-beta/

In an effort to eliminate bugs from upcoming iOS versions ahead of their general releases, Apple plans to launch the first-ever public beta program for the iOS operating system, according to multiple people briefed on the plans. Following the successful launch of the OS X Public Beta program with OS X Yosemite last year, Apple intends to release the upcoming iOS 8.3 as a public beta via the company’s existing AppleSeed program in mid-March, according to the sources. This release will match the third iOS 8.3 beta for developers, which is planned for release the same week. Apple then expects to debut iOS 9 at its June Worldwide Developer Conference, with a public beta release during the summer, and final release in the fall…

iOS 8.2 is killing my battery life. It also has slowed down my iPad 2. I'll try some of these fixes:

http://www.idigitaltimes.com/ios-82...uick-drain-issues-iphone-ipad-and-ipod-422229

But in the meantime I'd say it's not recommended unless you need the Bluetooth fixes, or if you're one of the misguided hipsters buying an Apple Watch.

Apple Watch support

New Apple Watch app to pair and sync with iPhone, and to customize Watch settings
New Activity App for viewing fitness data and achievements from Apple Watch; appears when Apple Watch is paired
Available on iPhone 5 and later

Health App improvements

Adds the ability to select the unit of measurement for body temperature, weight, height, distance, and blood glucose
Improves stability when dealing with large amounts of data
Includes the ability to add and visualise workout sessions from 3rd-party apps
Addresses an issue that may have prevented users from adding a photo in Medical ID
Fixes units for vitamins and minerals
Fixes an issue where Health data wouldn’t refresh after changes data source order
Fixes an issue where some graphics showed no data values
Adds a privacy setting that enables turning off tracking of steps, distance, and flights climbed

Stability Enhancements

Increases stability of Mail
Improves stability of Flyover in Maps
Improves stability of Music
Improves VoiceOver reliability
Improves connectivity with Made for iPhone Hearing Aids

Bug Fixes

Fixes an issue in Maps that prevented navigating to some favorite locations
Addresses an issue where the last word in a quick reply message wasn’t autocorrected
Fixes an issue where duplicate iTunes purchased content could prevent iCloud restore from completing
Resolves an issue where some music or playlists didn’t sync from iTunes to the Music app
Fixes an issue where deleted audiobooks sometimes remained on the device
Resolves an issue that could prevent call audio from routing to car speakers while using Siri Eyes Free
Fixes a Bluetooth calling issue where no audio is heard until the call is answered
Fixes a timezone issue where Calendar events appear in GMT
Addresses an issue that caused certain events in a custom reoccurring meeting to drop from Exchange calendar
Fixes an certificate error that prevented configuring an Exchange account behind a third-party gateway
Fixes an issue that could cause an organizer’s Exchange meeting notes to be overwritten
Resolves an issue that prevented some Calendar events from automatically showing as “busy” after accepting an invite.

8.2 keeps giving me problems with voice dictation on the standard keyboard. For instance, if I tried to use it in this reply box, the words would appear correctly, then immediately disappear and an empty space is inserted.

Still no word on lock screen notifications for email accounts configured for push, i'm assuming. Nothing like picking up my phone to see 20 emails still listed as new that I actually dealt with on my desktop hours ago until I unlock the phone.

A fix for the phantom half-vibrations while locked would be nice too.

I think i'd pay stupidly too much money for a 5s that still had iOS 7 on it at this point...

Noticed the Music app was playing songs alphabetically even while it was clearly indicating "Shuffle All" on 2,800+ songs. Had to disable shuffle and re-enable. Even then, it glitched and wouldn't resume playback without some fiddling. I think this happened once before, before 8.2 came out. Seems like another bug that hasn't been totally squashed.

I turned off ALL the eye candy and the auto Safari and Spotlight search options, background app refresh, and almost all location services, etc. and the iPad 2 is now much more usable now in iOS 8.2.

I really *really* really hope iOS 8 works a whole lot better with this update. iOS 8.x on my iPhone 6 Plus has been absolutely miserable compared to iOS 6/7 on my older iPhone 5 and 5s.

Just installed 8.3 on iPad Air & iPhone 6. Haven't had any issues with 8.2, we see how goes.

What I want to know is how the hell you fit an iPhone 6+ in your pocket.

I still get the constant web page crash / reload.

Had a strange orientation glitch too. I got a call while I was using Safari in horizontal orientation. I put the call on speakerphone and held the phone vertically as I returned to the home screen. The home screen was horizontal and switched to vertical. I opened Notes and it launched in horizontal orientation, then switched to vertical. Back to the home screen, it was horizontal and switched to vertical. It did this over and over and over until I finally turned my device sideways and then turned it back vertical again.
