9.0.x? Bleah.

9.1 would be more interesting.

Better than nothing for those who jailbreak though.

I saw something along these lines yesterday on r/jailbreak but it was said to be fake. This one real?

Updated to 9.0.2 and jailbroke on my 6+. Pretty cool to be able to use the new iOS 9 features that they only enabled on the new 6S models. There's tweaks to emulate force touch, bring up quick actions on home screen icons, enable live photos, and others. Still waiting for some of my tweaks to get updated but I'd say about 75% of them work.

I had a problem yesterday with iOS9 Pangu 1.0 where I ended up with just the Pangu app and no Cydia with the PC application identifying the phone exactly as it was prior to jailbreak (no message about failing or success). I started by restoring to iOS 9.0.2 and setting up as a new phone. Not sure what step it failed on but I had granted access to Photos. I restored iOS 9.0.2 and setup as a new phone again. The second attempt failed with a progress bar on my phone. My third attempt finally worked.

Makes sense since 9.1 doesn't exist yet.

It exists... in beta. It's not like jailbreaks haven't supported betas in the past.

Ran into the same issue with my phone. Went through on the second attempt.

Boy the keyboard on my iPad is laggy after the upgrade.

Did it leave the Pangu app behind? Forgot to mention that it did on my successful attempt. The latest Pangu update says that it no longer leaves the Pangu app.

It hung at 90% with me. I read on this link..

https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/wiki/ios9jailbreakhelp

That if it hangs, you should restore your backup before jailbreaking. Most steps tell you to

1) Backup
2) Restore to 9.0.2
3) Set up as new phone
4) Jailbreak
5) Restore backup

By restoring before jailbreaking, it solved the issue for me.

You can long press the Pangu app and delete it like any normal app. It will have no negative repercussions, I had to do the same.

That thread linked above has tons of info if anyone is having problems.

Edit: That link has info about the Bootloop of Death (BLoD.) I didn't experience it, but others may want to wait a bit until that issue gets rectified.

Still on 8.4 JB. Or wait for 9.1. Hmm. I like the iOS 9 power-saving features though. CBA, really. Another device on 8.4.1. Come on, Luca.

I <3 the new Spotlight so much nicer, I hate that a few of main Cydia tweaks I used on 8.2 don't work in 9 yet. Apparently one might not even ever get an update, oh well

I don't like the new music player, I understand they're pushing their new Apple Music thing, but for my locally stored music I wish I could install the music app from 8.x JB'ing was pretty painless, the only issue I has was because I didn't turn airplane mode off at the end before I ran Cydia the 1st time. And I ended up having to restore and JB again. Phone seems more snappy (6+)

I have another iPhone on 8.1.2 JB, runs perfect, does exactly what I need. But it has GPS focusing (in offline mode) problems (think it's a software issue), not sure what to do. Maybe iOS 9 will fix this... Still undecided, have tons of tweaks on it, apps, and whatnot... Hate reinstalling, re-tweaking all the god damn time. Would of still updated it to 8.4.1 but Apple stopped signing it a while ago, so not much choice left. Much prefer Android in this department (love my LG devices).

Why do people jailbreak? What essential functionality does it add?
You ask as if there is no answer.

For me: The ability to keep 1GB devices from unloading a particular app the moment I multi-task away from it (usually when I click a link in Tapatalk and open it in Safari or YouTube). Multitasking is almost useless without it. I also use Activator to activate my flashlight about 10x a day (double-press the lock button). I also still need jailbreaking for the rare times that I need tethering or FaceTime since I am on a grandfathered Unlimited plan that blocks those things.

Another newly "essential" thing for me will be YouTube ++. It has been a ridiculous pain to catch up on my YouTube subs that often have 2 hour interviews or 1+ hour troubleshooting videos. I always had to add to "Watch Later" and waste my day off catching up since I couldn't do much on breaks and such. Now I can download them to watch at my leisure AND I can watch them at 1.5x or 2.0x playback rate. Now when I see a 40-minute RedLetterMedia episode I don't shy away from starting it. It's a God send!

Some of my favourite apps off the top of my head.
f.lux: Adds a night mode which warms the screen's colour temperature and reduces eye strain. A lot of Android phones have this built in now, but iOS still doesn't. This feature should be on every computer by now IMO.

iFile: Allows you to browse the file system and use external drives if you have the ye olde camera kit.

Protect My Privacy: Lets you set privacy restrictions for apps, such as choosing to block your advertising identifier, location, etc.

Youtube Pro: Blocks ads on the official YouTube app. Great for conserving mobile bandwidth, or if you just don't like watching annoying ads.

Kodi: Run Kodi's excellent media centre software on your iDevice. Also lets you stream from other Kodi devices on your network.

SSH: log in remotely to your iDevice to transfer files without using iTunes.

I'd JB for the app Activator alone. It's maybe my favorite mobile app ever. I set up all sorts of profiles in it. Clex 2 & Acapella II for music controls. Doublecut so I can double press @ and fill in my email address. It sounds small, but goodness it comes in so handy for any web site you have to type your email in. Auxo 3 for swipe up controls, but it's not iOS 9 compatible so I'm not using it right now. I have a lot of visual tweaks installed too. If I captured a video of my phone nobody would know it's an iPhone because I've modded pretty much everything. I really can't stand stock iOS, but JB+Activator+Winterboard+Groovy Lock+ a few other tweaks and I'm just in heaven.
