I'm curious if you guys know of any really good iOS apps that are worth the purchase price.

My iPhone 6 came with a $50 iTunes gift card, and I'm not sure if there are any "must have" apps that I should get before I blow the rest of the card on movies.

Scanner Pro, I find well worth the small price. I have it auto-upload scans to Evernote. It's also part of a productivity bundle by Readdle. So I'd recommend looking at that before purchasing.

Also, having a white-noise generator app is a life saver! SimplyNoise is my favorite. There's a free version with fewer options you can try first.

I use Turboscan, not sure how that compares to Scanner Pro, but it was also a few bucks and well worth it. You take 3 pictures of a document, the software produces a scan which you can .pdf and email.

I had a craigslist app that was great for listing stuff. You set it up with your account, put in all the information about the item you were listing, and then took pictures and added them directly to the listing. So much better than fucking around with getting the pics from your phone or camera into your computer. But the last time I tried to use this it was broken, and I don't know if they've replaced it with anything.

Personally I swear by FlightTrack Pro when it comes to travel.

scannable - great for scanning and sending through email or direct to iCloud drive. Its free though but works with Evernote if you use that.

Goodreader - for pdfs and such

Home Inventory - IOS app and Mac App. I forget which one you buy, but is probably the Mac App.

Everything else I actually use was free to download or freemium (games)

I would blow most of it on movies. Its rare that I see an app that I have to have that doesn't cost more than $3.

Why not just use the craigslist site on your phone? The mobile optimized process of making a new post is pretty painless and straight forward.

I paid for both Swype and Swiftkey. For actual swipe based typing, I find Swype works better than Swiftkey. I consider it an absolutely essential app, without gesture based typing the iPhone felt like it was so far behind the competition. It's still works much better on Android, but at least the option is now there on iOS.

Apps that I paid for and would buy again in no particular order:
Dark Sky - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dark-sky-weather-radar-hyperlocal/id517329357?mt=8
Alien Blue Pro - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/alien-blue-reddit-official/id923187241?mt=8
Transmit - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/transmit-for-ios/id917432930?mt=8
Prompt 2 - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prompt-2/id917437289?mt=8
(I bought the bundle they had for both of these apps)

That's about it. It's a lot less than I thought.

My essential iOS apps include:

AV Player (HD and non HD versions, depending on device): https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/avplayerhd/id407976815?mt=8, it's a media file player, but also has HTTP/FTP protocols so you can transfer files wirelessly, subtitles support and subtitles language/coding support

Good Reader:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodreader/id777310222?mt=8 HTTP/FTP protocol, dropbox support, in-app browser for downloading files not normally supported by iOS, PDF annotation/viewing, overall great file manager for iOS.

Denon Audio:
https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/denon-audio/id520604518?mt=8 It's one of the few apps that I know of that plays audio, syncs with your iTunes library on the phone, but also has a graphical EQ - I use it for the times I'm using my higher-end headphones with my phone without an amp to power them, so the graphical EQ really helps balance the sound quality. The graphical EQ setting costs money, but the app itself is free. Note: the app uses more RAM than the iOS built in player, so for older devices, that may be an issue when multi tasking
