I was asked to setup a wireless/IP camera system recently, and I know pretty much nothing about this subject. I scanned these forums, and there doesn't seem to be much help here.
First, if there is a website that can provide more info/reviews/etc on IP based wireless cameras, I'd appreciate it if anyone can post this.
Otherwise, this is what I'm looking for:
1. Wireless (IP) based is ideal...running cable/wires will not be ideal. These will be outdoor cameras.
2. Ability to record to server: I think this is possible with just about any model out there, but I'll list this as well.
3. night vision: this camera will be used during daytime, but MUST be able to see at least 60' at night. Also, the IR sensors must NOT be visible (no little red eyes tipping off anyone that the camera is there).
4. remote software: would be nice to view live feed remotely, but not necessary. Also, any alerting/trigger features would be nice, but not absolutely needed.
5. PRICE: I've looked at some cameras and systems that added up to thousands of dollars...not going to happen here. Need at least 3 cameras, color is nice but not necessary, and price should stay around $350.00.
So, anyone have any experiences with these types of cam's? Main thing is night vision capability (problem with vandalism)...do the cheaper cameras (i.e. Swann) work at all? The Axis brand came highly recommended, but I think the price is out of budget in this case.
Thanks in advance!
