IP Masquerading

Need a good linux distro thats ready or windows program that does ip masquerading. i tried NAT on windows and it blows, i cant get anything more than trillian to work. I only have 2 ip adresses allotted to me by my wierd dad and obviously this isnt enough. so whats the easiest way to do this?

Best one would be Astaro or Smoothwall.

any *nix distro with netfilter and a couple of NIC's will do. for those that don't want to learn linux, you should look into smoothwall, astaro, or any other liunx based router projects.

If I understand you correctly, you need a setup like this,:

Switch---router1--comps
+
|
|
router2--comps


You can't set it up like this:

router1--router2-comps
....+.....
comps-

for multiple Ips.


If you do it like the first one, each router will have its own IP.

Linux, NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris, and HP-UX can do NAT just fine. Maybe if you stopped calling your dad stupid names you could get another IP or two.

i have 1 becasue my dad thinks he is some kind of 1337 sysadmin(keep out hackers, lol)

but he did say that i could set up IP Masq. using the one ip that i have so i can hook up more computers.

Yea, you wanted massquerading right ? That is what NAT is.
