Nice to see it in stock, this was like $102 at newegg just earlier this week. Not a 'hot' deal though.

for 100 I think this is approching the price of the big brother IP35. I guess I was lucky enough to get it when newegg had it on sale for 75AR I believe back 2 months ago.

Warm deal, not hot. Guaranteed good overclocking especially with 800MHz FSB chips. However, guaranteed being a bit picky on RAM (and PSUs even) and the ever present dual boot issue.

Also, SerpentRoyal may not be around to help out anymore for those with problems, since he got banned.

I know this is the wrong place to ask, but why did he get banned?

Link me to the right post if there is one.

What did he do, or was it his general persistence?

What did he do?

This is terrible news. I actually benefited from the Serpent's Abit IP35-E thread. That thread is one of the most read, posted, helpful and informative thread.

I believe that Serpent was very helpful to a lot of people including old timers.

Why, what, how did it come to being banned, I do not know but I hope the mods and admins take into account his contributions to this board and not let emotion runs wild.

My bad, the dual boot issue is actually the dual POST issue, where you hit the power switch and the motherboard turns on, turns off then turns back on again.

As for SerpentRoyal... yes he was helpful with anyone having problems with this particular motherboard. However, he, ahem, had a rather abrasive posting personality especially if anyone disagreed with his IP35-E/Earthwatts universal recommendation. However, being irritating doesn't guarantee a ban.

The reason for his ban is that he seems to have ran afoul of a long-running forum rule, and that is creating a secondary account because he was a previously banned member.

Ah, k thx. Does this cause any problems, other than it doing what you described?

So, SerpentRoyal was banned because SerpentRoyal was a secondary account from after he was banned once?

So what was the original ban for? Inquiring minds want to know.

I didn't know about SerpentRoyal got banned. I think he is quite knowledgeable although did see a few arguments between him and others here and there. But that shouldn't be sufficient ground for a ban though. There might be something else happening here.

Anyhow, I'm on my second IP35-E wonderful board, runs very cool as well. I used a combo of XMS2, Ballistix and supertalent, the board has no compatibility issue with any of these RAMs. I think wait a bit for the price to come down again though.

It eliminates the double POST issue, but it starts up a posting issue for some, me being one of those people.

BIOS 14 freezes at POST sometimes and the only way to fix that is to unplug your power connector from the power supply for a few seconds.

BIOS 12 is still the fastest and most stable BIOS so far. Hopefully ABIT comes out with a new BIOS that fixes both the freezing issue and double posting issue, but I believe those two issues are side effects of each other in terms of fixing the other.

And if anyone is looking towards BIOS 13, don't. It has some serious issues.

As far as SerpentRoyal is concerned, that guy was extremely helpful, but at the same time extremely abrasive. Abit motherboards were sent down from Jesus Christ himself, riding on a unicorn.

BIOS 14 fixed the double POST issue for me and I haven't experienced any freezes at POST. I'm not sure if it's related, but after upgrading to BIOS 14, I was able to overclock my E2180 from 3.0Ghz to 3.2Ghz on stock air.

For those who still have any issues with even the official Bios 14, I'd suggest 14 Beta 05 which can be found via the abit forums. I use it and it's very stable. No double post (unless you unplug your psu from the wall for whatever reason), and great for OCing.

I have BIOS14 running on two machines, seems to be quite stable no freeze problems on either machine.

I don't know but I'll look it up. I wasn't a mod back then and didn't pay attention to that kind of stuff.

Haha, that's funny.

Just poke around the abit forums and look for someone with the same posting style. Once you find him, you'll also find his original Anandtech Forum username under which he was perma-banned.

List of banned usernames on Anandtech forums

Alright, I used some mod tools and found out about the original ban(s). He was given a temporary vacation of 2 weeks, which eventually became permanent. Reason was for constant thread crapping, rudeness and lack of courtesy, ignoring and challenging forum rules/guidelines. Or so the notes read.
