IP35-E or . . . ?

I'm holding out for Newegg to get some more IP35-E's in stock by the end of the month, but since they've completely removed it from the website, it doesn't look promising. Everyone else selling them seems to have jacked up the price, with the next cheapest I can find being just over $100.

I was planning on getting an E2140 to OC to around 3-3.2. So, assuming I can't get my hands on an IP35-E for a reasonable price any time soon, what are my best options as far as similarly-priced boards that perform/overclock as well as the IP35-E? Should I just spring for the regular IP35, the Gigabyte DS3L, one of the MSI Neos, or what?

Keep checking NewEgg or go with $95 AR IP35 @ MWAVE. I'm not aware of another $60 to $70 P35 board capable of 450-500MHz FSB.

MWave is selling the IP35V for 58.00 AR. I have not heard too much about the board though as far as OCing.

V model uses a ICH7, not the E's better ICH9 chip which is a major deal breaker if your going to overclock.

You're going backward with IP35V. Less performance at the same price.

no one actually tested IP35-V yet, but judging from the picture, it has less cooling on the bridges, so my guess is it will OC bit less than the E version. Since E is discontinued, only guess is abit is using V to do the budget segment from now on. for 58 bucks AR it's pretty good price, compare to 75AR w/ shipping I paid for IP35-E. I personally would get the E if you can since the construction of the board seems more solid.

I expect that it will probably oc less too but imo most likely due to the PWM area changes & not the diferent sb.

Since E is discontinued,

there is no evidence for this - apparently NewEgg had the IP35-E back on it's website this morning until it sold out again

ZZF has the IP35E fpr $103 (no rebate). Do you think the "E" is a better board than the straight IP35? ...just curious, seriously looking at the E now.

I think ZZF is a crooked company. Their BF and CM sale items went out of stock 7 minutes after the sale. These jokers are now on my permanent shit list. They need to go out of business like Monarch.

Why do you say that? Bigger sites like Staples.com sell out of BF/CM items in less time than that. That doesn't make them a crooked company.

I'm getting MSI Neo-F from ClubIT for under 90 bucks. I like the fact that it comes with ICH9R instead of the regular ICH9 on the other boards. My other choice would be XFX 680i LT SLI from TigerDirect for under 100. Although it would be nice to run SLI, I like P35 chipset because it is less "power hog" compared to Nvidia Chipset.

Those are the two "it" board in my book at the moment.

Would like to know this as well. I picked up a Q6600 from Fry's on BF but missed the bandwagon on the -E boards. Thinking of just pulling the trigger on the normal IP35 now.

Everything I've seen shows the IP35 just has additional features that were stripped out of the -E model, but it should overclock just as well right?

the only differences between the IP35 & IP35-E are ICH9R instead of ICH9, addition of firewire & different chipset cooling - they share the same BIOS.

Not on the new BIOS, v.14beta05. Here are some results from testing a user at the abit forums did on v.14beta (link):

I executed the test 4 times. I dropped the first run scores and averaged the following 3 ones. The following are the scores I got using the on-board TI firewire, a VIA PCI firewire and the firewire port bundled with a Cretive Audiy 4 card:
