This looks pretty slick, I'm one of those still using CF with my Nikon... Will be pre ordering one.
I went to BestBuy to check out the iPad 2.
My impression:
- It's thicker than I anticipated. I thought it was going to be super-thin...
- LOVE the screen quality. I haven't checked out the video quality but the desktop images show how well they are displayed. Viewing angle was very impressive.
MORE QUESTIONS:
1). How does sound quality stack up, via ear phone? Anyone moved from iPod Touch 4G or iPhone 4G to iPad2? Is the sound quality equal or better? btw, I have a $150 Etymotic HF-5 ear phone so this isn't the bottleneck.
2). Can you use iPad 2 to download files from the web and store them just like regular computers?.. Can you also "install" programs (such as utorrent) just like regular computers do?
3. Pending....

Question:
I see the port next to the card reader is USB port. Is that port used for things like connecting the USB keyboard or mouse? What is the purpose of having USB port on iPad 2?
Or do I have to have docking station for iPad 2 in order to connect USB keyboard?
I'm very glad to hear that the iPad 2's signature is cooler, more treble based. I don't like excessive bass (takes away clarity and crispness) which is why I got the HF-5.1) The iPad 2 sounds more emphasized towards higher end and mid-range than iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4, though high-end is a bit recessed. As a result, you get a clearer but less bassy and metallic sound. Bass comes more of a feeling than sound with the iPad 2. Bass-heads won't be happy, but I suspect Jazz and Rock sound better with the iPad 2 vs previous devices. Haven't gotten a chance to try the MacBook Pro 2011, but I suspect that is also the case with them. iLounge's review of the iPad 2 also noted that the iPad 2 put extra emphasis into mid-end clarity as opposed to the first generation.
Thanks for the info!2) There are apps which you can download for free or buy that support file downloading and uploading (not via Flash forms, of course). Unfortunately, there is no bittorrent support. Rely on your computer and VNC for this one, I suppose.
Wow, I didn't know it can do that. That's really good to know. I have a lot of video files that I want the Apple device to play so that's a big plus for me.3) There are video players in the App Store that support playing back the video formats that go beyond MP4, MOV, and M4V. There are also music players that go beyond what iPod supports.
Thanks for the heads up. I want to buy an Apple USB keyboard and hook it up to iPad 2 later.USB keyboard used to work. I'm not sure if they still work now since I use a bluetooth keyboard most of the time. Mouse definitely wouldn't work.
Thanks!Having a USB port allows you to connect different peripherals that were previously made for PC. As long as those peripherals draw a tiny amount of power. Small flash drives, hard drives that don't draw a lot of power or draw from a tiny amount of power, or card readers can be used to transfer photos and movies over.
Beyond that, you can connect MIDI instruments like keyboards, synthpads, etc... and use them with GarageBand or other apps.
This jailbreak thing is very new to me. I need to do some reading to catch up, lol.If you jailbreak the iPad, you may also use the hard drive to store data for a lot more things, have mouse and keyboard support, and do a lot more with the USB port than normally possible.
OMG, thank you for the awesome info.

All local stores that I know of here are out of stock on iPad 2.
Does anyone (possibly apple employee or and their friends) know how often Apple store bring in iPad 2 shipment? and what days of the week? In the states I mean.. I need a rough estimate.
Thanks sweethearts.
From this article, it appears stores get supplies daily(except weekends) in little quantities. Wake-up early -

Note - when I was at that Apple Store this weekend, they said pretty much the same thing.
Update: Got to the apple store at 6am. I was the 7th person in line. Not too shabby. The apple associate reserved me a 64gb wifi white thank goodness. It's 7:45am as of now and only 6 of them left, and there is about 100 people behind me. This is crazy.
I thought it's been nearly a month.100 people nearly half a month after launch... sheesh!
Update:
Apple store lied. The rep said due to discripancies they are the black ones, not the white ones. I waited outside of the building freezing for 2 hours only to walk out with nothing. Emmm~~~ I'm pretty pissed. I told the rep to give me a call once they get the white 64gb wifi in.
What's even worse is that there were few guys behind me that wanted BLACK 64GB wifi ones walked out the building thinking the black ones are out of stock. Discripancy my ass, it's the people that didn't do their job right. Work fast or sloppy and you are bound to make mistakes. Never a good practice for anything.
I thought it's been nearly a month.
Sorry for keep bumping the thread. And sorry if my post is unrelated to the topic. But I feel the need to rant.
Last Saturday, which was my 3rd attempt to purchase iPad 2, failed to get one. Got there at 5:55 AM and I was the 10th person in line this time. Waited two hours only to find out Apple store does NOT carry White 64GB Wifi at all. The black versions are plenty available. So I walked out without buying anything.
Official conclusion: There is no demand for white iPad 2. Or Apple does not like manufacturing white iPad 2's for some reason.
I couldn't believe I wasted my time doing all this 3 days in a roll. I was furious as hell. I gave up on this. I am disappointed with Apple.
I went to Apple site and ordered a damn white 64GB wifi iPad 2.
bye
Don't worry they will ship it out in 2 weeks, they gave me a 1 month wait time too but they shipped it out on April 1st(better not be a April fools joke from Apple) and I ordered it on March 22nd. I also got the white iPad 2 .^ Thanks for the kind words. My estimated delivery date is May 3, 2011. That's 1 mo.
But the good news is, I know I will be getting a white. It's been reserved.
In case if people wonder why white? I want it because I find it aesthetically more beautiful, or cute looking... or should I say "chic"? The white goes well with Apple products anyway. The black ones look too normal.
