The question is: is it worth it to get an iPad 2 instead of just a 1st gen iPad?

I answer this question like this.

If you have an iPad already - no.

If you don't have an iPad already - get the better one. There are apps in the market that are already updating with iPad 2 specific updates. Nothing is worse than buying an app, and you think you are missing a feature.

Only reason I sold my iPad 1 was because I regretted not getting a 3G version.

So basically if you don't have one and are considering one -- going with an iPad 2 with 3g? don't bother with the first gen's?

Exactly.

That or you have a first one and find yourself multitasking quite a lot, or at least getting back to different odd tasks at different times.

Well, it doesn't have to be 3G. I am saying go with an iPad 2 in general. Don't bother with the 1. After using an iPad 2, you will totally regret getting the 1.

3G is only if you plan to use the service, if not, get a Wi-Fi only.

I used my iPad a LOT last summer all over the place, but I used to tether to my Android phone. Now I walk around with a (work-paid) iPhone 4, so I can't tether anymore. So the 3G makes all the sense in the world to me.

I know. But with AT&T going after people who tether with jailbroken iPhones, it doesn't make sense to do that with a phone provided by my company.

I don't want them to ask me why AT&T is suddenly charging me $45 more each month.

Yeah, the iPad 2's gorilla glass is super strong. It is virtually unbreakable. You will have really hard time trying to scratch this thing. I heard metals can't scratch it, unless you deliberately rub it hard with sand or diamonds. That is why I returned the Zagg's Invisible Shield screen protector and exhanged it for an iPad 1 Case, lol. This covers the backside and around the bezel which are prone to damages.

Like I said, I'm glad the iPad 2's sound output is so good. The experience of using the device is night and day difference when using it with some mid-to-high end ear phones. Makes the enjoyment several hundred percent better. Don't rely on the built-in speaker, get the earphones!

And did any of you guys notice the light bleeding problem on almost all of iPad 2 devices? There is a big talk going on over at apple support forum.

Well I bought one. Looked online and it sai my local walmart had them in stock. After getting some supplies for burgers I went and asked. They are currently remodeling the entire store. Asked the lady and she said they didn't have any. Told her to humor me and she got a stock thingy and sure enough it said they had one. She looked in the back and couldn't find it. She looked and looked. Finally found it in the wierdest place, in the case with all the other ipods.

I was going back and forth between the ipad and Transform. In the end I decided I have been enough of a beta tester and went with the mature product. It's my first apple product other than an ipod nano. We'll see how it goes. It's updating and syncing my tunes now.

Black model, no bleeding, and I use it in the dark a bit, so it'd be pretty obvious.

Glad to hear yours isn't having the issue. Luckily, mine is also not getting the light bleeding in fairly dark environments with black or dark screen displayed unless I take it into a complete dark room. So I'm thankful.

UPS tracking says its on the way.

Since I was unhappy with the iPhone 4, should I just go ahead and send it back?

i had a black ipad2 wifi 16gb and the blacklight bleeding was HORRIBLEEEEE. I brought it back and haven't missed it lol

yeah i know i could have waited and had the apple store replace it but no thanks, I avoid those stores @ all costs. Might look into a different tablet if I ever feel the urge.

Anyone buy Final Fantasy 3 with an iPad 2? I have it for my iPad 1 and the overworld is super choppy? Other areas in the game are fluid.

Just wondering if it's quicker on an iPad 2 or not.

General consensus is the thing is considerably more powerful than its older brother, especially with video games (even emulators and such).

Yeah, I was just interested. It seems like it would be a great benchmark between the two devices. I am heading to our local Microcenter tomorrow to check out the EEE Transformer with a friend, and I'll probably pick up an iPad 2. I am missing having one around the house already. The local Microcenter near me is so out of the way that they usually have plenty in stock. I am debating going with an older 3G version or a new one.

(Also, I have to stop calling my former iPad mines...lol)

Overworld? You mean the World Map right?

If it's that, then there is no stuttering. I have been trying to get back in and out, but my time just doesn't allow me to go too far past the beginning.

In any case, the game runs like a dream on the iPad 2, framerate-wise.

Okay, was out shopping for a Mother's Day gift and ended up buying an iPad 2 for my fiance as a wedding gift. I feel like I'm gonna go to hell now. /sigh

Guys (and girls),

I have been viewing lots of videos on my iPad 2 for the last couple of months and haven't touched my pro grade plasma panel since I got the iPad 2. Last night I removed earphones from my ears and decided to give my plasma baby a try by playing some HD videos. I literally shit my pants. I was mesmerized by the level of PQ. It had so much depth in the video and so crisp and sharp. I was like holly crap. I think the reason why I'm getting this effect is I'm so used to watching videos off iPad 2 with less depth in pictures, also the images are soft. It's very opposite of my TV setup.

Question: So do I hate my iPad 2 now? Got tired of it?

Answer: No. I still like my iPad 2 a lot.

Question: Are you planning to get rid of it?

Answer: No.... not until something drastically better comes out, whether it's a TV or some killer tablet device with better PQ and offer more options on video adjustment.

Question #2 guys,

I may have missed some information in this thread about stylus pen for iPad 2. It appears there are many different brand / models out there? Which one is best for sensivity? I need something that is very responsive to the touch, without having to press on the screen hard. I never owned such product before so I know nothing about this... I just don't want to get something crappy or junk... Can you please guide me what you find to be a good one?

Question #3:

How much do you guys think I can sell my iPod Touch 4 64GB at places like eBay? it's in excellent condition. I now have no interest for it as I have iPad 2. Anyone?

Thanks,
