Hmm I think I might've found an interesting problem in Safari...

I wanted to put an image as my background, and while poking around on MMO-Champion (WoW fansite), I found a pretty nifty picture of Arthas that I recall seeing at Blizzcon. So, I went to load the picture on my iPad 2 and it came up as this weird negative version.

That's the direct link to the picture, which is supposed to be full of a lot of red tones. I'll have to see if I can get the picture off my iPad, as it is very blue.

For anyone else that owns one, can you try it to see what happens?

I tried loading the image on my 3GS and it came up fine... albeit very slowly .

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the impatience people have with this stuff. If the iPad 2 is as good as people think it is, why the immense rush to get it? Surely it will be just as good in a couple weeks or a month from Day 1.. but no, people camp outside Apple stores, queueing up with their blankets and sleeping bags.

I never have and never will be so intensely fanatical about a product that I absolutely *must* have it the first day or the first week it's available for purchase to me as a consumer. Seems to me to be idiotic and very sheepish.

There's nothing wrong with people wanting something right now and waiting in line all day for it. They just have no lives so more power to them. If that's the one thing they can do all year that can make them happy then more power to them.

It was actually kind of funny standing in line for the iPad 2. I was talking to one person and the person asked me if I owned the original. I didn't, but the person did, and she started telling me how the new product was just so amazing. The amusing part to me was how she didn't actually tell me a single difference between the two .

I certainly didn't enjoy waiting about 4 hours. I honestly didn't expect there to be much of a line, but a friend poked around Twitter and someone had listed that they were lined up. The location provided by Twitter showed them where the Apple store is, so I went to take a look. The line was already long enough that I knew if I came back at my original planned time of 4PM, that I probably wouldn't be getting one . What surprised me most about the line is that most of the users of the original iPad will probably notice very little difference. The biggest boost seems to be in the graphics, and you might see some websites load a bit faster.

Worst part is... I want to upgrade to the iPhone 5 this summer, and I'll probably have to wait for one of those too . All the 3GS users will probably be upgrading since the 3GS came out in Feb 2009 and that means their 2 years are up (as is mine).

Since the waiting time for the iPad 2 is now fairly long, I went ahead and ordered one for $10 off with no tax at the AAFES site. Guess I can expect it next month. :whiste:

If you want it in March you'll have have to wait in a retarded line. It's going to be at least a month before there won't be a line to get one. And even after the lines are gone, finding one for sale will be difficult. You're not going to randomly walk into a BB or Frys and just happen to find one on the shelf for months. As another poster already posted they ordered online and won't be getting it for over a month.

Could I wait a month? Sure, but if you want sooner, wait in line. Meanwhile I could walk into any store that carries Xoom's or Galaxy Pads and get one instantly. The BB up the street from sold out of iPad 2's instantly, literally in less than a minutes time they outsold all Xoom's + Galaxy's combine times 10 for that store. Android has a lot of work to do to even come close to watching up.

It'd most likely relate to the ability to manufacture devices. There are multiple OEMs for Android phones (HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc), but with only one manufacturer, I'd assume that Apple can't match the combined capabilities of the others.

Although, I do wonder if it is possible for Apple to increase production. I do recall some news articles when the iPad debuted about them trying to increase production -- I'm sure you recall the Foxconn suicides and stuff .

I played with one at best buy and I love the form factor. I hope of the new andriod pads have a similar form factor. It just feels so much lighter and easier ot handle than the m. xoom (which was right next to it). THe actual weight reduction is rahter small (.3 lbs) so a lot of it is due to the thinness...

Oh well hopefully something that meets my wants will show up by June.

Both iPad and iPhone 4 were beaten by 12-month old iPhone 3GS, and a handful of Droid phones were beaten by 3GS as well.

Sure it's more powerful but it's rendering it at a smaller rez. The same thing with the iPhone 4 getting lower framerates on benches because of the higher resolution. Should we called owned for Android phones that get higher frames than an iPhone 4?

No, honestly. He posted it in an iPad 2 thread. Now if this was a XOOM thread, that would be trolling. But this isn't.

And the truth remains that the iPad 2 outspecced the best Android tablet on the market right now.

One thing we can always count on is for you to make assumptions... and we all know what those are: the mothers of all f***ups.

I don't like this "gotta have it as soon as it comes out!" fanaticism for any product, not just Apple stuff. Apple products are, however, the tech products that generate the longest lines of immediate adopters.

If you're not in control of your "wants" you'll find yourself with two things.. little money and a lot of crap.

If you want it sooner, then no.. you can't wait a month. Far too often with new products in general, and Apple stuff in particular, wanting something always equals "gotta have it now!" They want, therefore they cannot wait.

(It's no wonder many of those same people look to the government to protect them from "bad" products and look to the government to give them money... they're unwilling and therefore unable to protect themselves and their finances by not buying everything they want or everything that shines.)
