Im actually expecting new iPads by summer that will look like this:

iPad 2 16GB $299
iPad 4 16GB $399
iPad 4.5 16GB $499

I think a new iPad will have essentially the same internals as the current iPad but with design stylings from the Mini. Same processor, screen resolution, but thinner side bezels, one light bar instead of 2.

iPad Mini 16GB $229
iPad Mini 2 16GB $329

I think the iPad mini 2 will house the same resolution screen, but with an A6-class processor. I also believe Apple launched the iPad Mini, with the poorer specs, to establish the $329 price point they wanted. This way, a new iPad Mini version isn't labeled as a "price increase", but rather a replacement and a price drop. They were just setting public expectations for the future.

I think paying above MSRP for any device is a bad decision, I wouldn't blame Apple for that one. :whiste:

why? just because a new one is released doesn't mean that you have to rush out and buy it.

as with any technology, the gear is obsolete before you even purchase it.

iPads have typically had about a one year lifetime before a new one comes out. The 4 already came out much sooner than anticipated, and now we're possibly looking at the same thing happening with the 5. The problem is that for people who bought the 4 (not me), they spent flagship money on a device that's getting replaced rather quickly. That just sucks.

Nope, but it's monetary value drops quite a bit when Apple unveils the next model. That's real money lost in a short span of time. No thanks.

Also, lumping everyone's differing opinions together as if they're coming from one source does not help argue a point.
