OD is wrong. CUSA's price after rebate is $349.99. If they add the bundle to their cart (or just fully read the description) they will see that the price you pay is $449.99 with an additional $100 back after rebates.

Costco.com is OOS - you can jump directly to the 3835, and can technically add it to your cart, but click on "View Cart" and it'll say it's out of stock.

Costco B&Ms carry the 3845 instead of the 3835 - they're essentially identical, except that the 3845 doesn't qualify for any of Compaq's rebates.

If anyone still wants one, you can order it from Amazon for about $20 more or so.

have any of you guys actually been able to PM with OD using the costo.com quote? i really want to get in on this deal, but i will have to drive abut 20 miles out to get to the nearest store that has an iPaq in stock .... so any help, advise, or comments will be really apprecated.

I don't know how these people are getting the matches at OD. I tried to do an online price match and they said they only match to other Office Supply stores. You may luck out if you go to the store but you loose the 15%. I suspect that it will be harder and harder to find a manager that will match anyone.

hmmm.. now that you mention it, there have been no people who have posted saying that they have done the pricematch. The only thing that has been said is that doing a pricematch is possible.... but i didnt see how... well, at least you can PM to compusa ( I hope... ) and then apply the 15% off of $50.

Here's confirmation that the CostCo PM works. I did it last night.

And for those getting turned down because CostCo isn't an "office supply store", (i didn't have to do this, but) ask them to define an office supply store. CostCo sells quite a number of the same things that OD/OM/Staples sells, just with a smaller selection and in greater quantities.

Ok good deal guys, this is how it goes.
I called up office depot, had em pricematch it to the staples store, instore, just give them a number of one of the local Staples around you, because they should all have em for 399.
I ordered two.

SubTotal: $1,199.98
Tax: $37.20
Delivery: $0.00
Misc.: -$579.99
Total: $657.19

It worked out for me with the 15% coupon, and on top of that he game me the 110% pricematch. ::Grins:: It works out to be $125 a piece, not too bad if you ask me.

My simplified story:

Wed: I ordered it online (with the 15% off coupon) for instore pickup, paying with CASH (so that i don't actually pay anything yet). Go to the store an PM to CompUSA's offer ($449 with free SD card) and get the 15% off of that.

Thu: I ordered it online (with the 15% off coupon) again for instore pickup at a different location (i'll explain why in a second*). I did this just to show that I have a 15% coupon that can be used in the store (so that they can't weasel out with "oh, that's an online coupon only." I explain that all I really wanted was to pricematch my Wed. purchase with CostCo, and then re-apply the 15% coupon to that. Eventually I get ~$64 back on my CC (and we cancel my second iPaq order)

So, this wasn't completely straightforward, but it did work.

* For those of you who get this and want to get the PCMCIA expansion sleeve for this, here's a great deal...
Office Depot has it (SKU: 142-384) on clearance (so, YMMV) for $37.99. Add a little something to your purchase and use a $10/$40 staples coupon and you get the sleeve for about $30.

When you selected CASH, did you actually have to pay in CASH? Or would they still let you use a credit card when you go into PM? Also, did you have any hassle, using the coupon online, then going in to PM? Thanks.

I eventually paid with a CC. I just chose CASH so that i paid nothing until after the PM got approved. My order of events was to pm first, and then use the coupon after they approved the pm. I had a much easier time at the second OD than the first. The big thing is to actually place the order showing the 15% off coupon, to prove that you have a valid coupon, despite not have a coupon number.

Balael: Very impressive. One thing i don't get is how you got the extra 10% off. I checked the PM policy online and in B&M for OD, and they state that they'll do a 100% pm, not 110%. Did you ask for the extra 10% difference or did they do it for you?

i gave up on this.. i was gonna retired my old 3765 but decided to keep it and got the wife the toshiba e310. Though it doesn't have wireless network now, sd i/o-wifi will be out by oct..

toshiba e310 are 299-100 rebate at OD..

over on the wallet, a guy said that CostCo has it for $299.99 in store (not online) and that he PM'd to that with the 15% off....his total after rebate and tax is ~ $71. He did the whole deal on the phone.

I did try to pricematch with costco, and that was a definate no-go with like 3 csr's, two of whom were women.

i got lucky i guess, ordered online with 15% coupon then called OD to price match my order with costco. got rejecte by the first two reps "costco not a competitor" then the 3rd redial hooked me up with a rep who said no problem and did the 110% match. $307 out the door - 100 OD rebates - 100 Compaq rebates

Not as lucky as James but after spending about 2 hours with various people (the first time I was almost there, but my cell phone cut off and I lost the rep) I finally got it for 423. Every rep I talked to at OD kept pointing me to the internet orders department and the lady there said, you can't have the 15% if you get the price match. So I gave up, but I will get it for 223 after rebates. Are we sure that there are $200 in rebates? The reason I ask is because the people on the phone kept saying there is a $50 rebate only, so either they don't know at all or something may not be right here. Are you all getting the rebates from the link listed at Office depot? Thanks again for the deal, may not have made out but this is a nice pda I have been wanting for more than yeah now. Thanks for all your help.

CSR: "Is this on the Compaq item sir?"

CSR: "I'm sorry, can you please call back again tomorrow at 7 am. We are currently discussing this with our managers."

Looks like this has turned into a huge mess. I called a half dozen costcos, and OD a dozen times. Still no luck. Different replies every time and different prices! Guess I'll try again tomorrow, looks like I'll have to settle with the 10% coupon now instead of the 15% one. Doh.

But I just called again OD, and this time the guy was going to try and place the order but he didn't know how to deal with the 15% off coupon.

So I tried one more time and I got another response: "Is this on the Compaq item? I'm sorry we are currently having an argument over this because of the huge amount of savings. Please call back tomorrow."

Wow, look what we have done. Brought this company to its knees ...But I still don't have an ipaq

Still fun though. I'll give it another whirl tomorrow, even though the 15% coupon is expired, the 10% one will still work.
