I've had both and instantly missed my palm after getting an ipaq. so much easier to use for the things it was meant for....calendar, mail, etc... i'm not going to get into a big argument, but I'm just saying that i've had both, and the palm was better. it was a sony clie 710.

ended up selling the ipaq. maybe i'll get a pda again once wireless internet is mainstream

Must be nice to own a product that is the center of an attempt to form a class action lawsuit against Compaq. Won't be a shocker if there is a recall on those POS.

Word of caution Clocker... the word is to never let the damn thing sit for more than a few days, its sucks the life out of the irreplacable battery.

The reminder functions on ppc 2002 are worthless. It beeps once at you and if you're not around, too freaking bad. I've missed many things because there is NO option to have it remind you more than one time on my ipaq. I never missed a meeting with my old palm ///e because it will beep at me up to 10 times. The color screen is great until you realize the battery is dead... again. I swear it only lasts about 1 hour tops. I am not slamming the iPaq, I love mine but a pda it is not-- it's more like a small pocket computer with some pda functionality built in (which I don't find very helpful). Plus, they're so expensive I'm always nervous about dropping it and breaking the screen (whereas my ///e is basically disposable). Just my 3 cents.

FYI - I've left mine sitting around for 2 weeks while on vacation, not even close to having any significant drain on my batteries.

The reminder function also has the blinking green light at the top of the unit which is usually sufficient to get my attention if I wasn't around to hear the chime. If you upgrade to Pocket PC 2002, you are able to set any task or appointment to Snooze or Dismiss just like in Outlook. The warning chime sounds each time the snooze period has elapsed.

I have owned two palm based handhelds I find the ipaq to be my favorite.

I have a cradle at home and at work. My Ipaq battery never drains too low.
I've gone through 7 Palms and 1 Ipaq, the Ipaq is the only one I still own.
I think it's plenty easy to use. Anyone who finds an Ipaq difficult to use is just not geeky enough.

I got mine (3635) for $209 shipped after MIR which is how much my IBM WorkPad C3 (black Palm Vx) cost May last year, but the Ipaq is so much more cool even though the Vx was a better size. I was almost skeptical about switching, but now I'm glad I did.

You're DEFINITELY not geeky enough if you had both, and chose the Palm!!!

For those of you who have never heard of this semi-widespread battery problem you might want to check out Compaq's support board.

Here is a simple search I did. Link

Sure these are only people who have had problems, but the mere fact that the simptoms are all very similar throws a red flag.

I used to want an ipaq. it had great features, nice color screen. But when my bro's and my aunt's ipaq both crapped out within a month of eachother for the same reason, I choose to stay away untill Compaq addresses the issue.
