iPhnoe to car radio- no B-Tooth

Sometimes while traveling I have to take conference calls using my iPhone on speaker with the mic muted. My truck has a standard stereo input on the front for connecting an MP3 type device and I would like to know the best way to connect my iPhone and hear my conference calls while traveling.

I've read about the male\male patch cables, but some sites claim the modular iPhone connector with a 3.5mm on the other end is better for audio. What do you use and where did you get it?

And, is there any truth that buying the modular bottom mount connector would work or sound better than a straight male to male patch cable?

do you have a USB port in the truck? that's what i do with my CR-V

The problem with taking calls is the microphone is on the bottom, so if you put in a cupholder it might inhibit sound getting to the microphone. Maybe getting some kind of dock/charger type thing with a line out would be your best bet. What's your budget?

I have bluetooth in my GMC Terrain only for the phone. I also have usb that supports controlling iPhone playback through the car stereo but I never use my phone for music anyway. I put all my music on my radio's HDD as mp3 files and play them directly in the radio and let my iPhone just be a phone.

Other options for iPhone playback include an audio cable or an fm transmitter that plugs in the bottom of the phone. My son uses the fm transmitter in his car and my wife uses a cable.

No USB and No BT and the mic isn't a deal breaker because I only need the phone for listening to conf calls while traveling. If\when I need to speak to the group I have to pull to a stop anyway.

I have the 3.5mm input for the radio and I' just try a patch cable. It will probably be good enough to hear voice just fine. I was thinking I might try the iPhone plug on the bottom if it made a huge difference in quality but I guess either one would be good. My company truck has a pretty basic stereo so there's only so much I can hope for.

Music wise, it sounds a bit better than from 3.5 jack to 3.5 jack, but I don't think it routs calls thru the stereo.
