Wonder how large the 1080p videos will also be? And will the max filesizes still be 3.68GB?

Holy cow! Steve Jobs has turned the world upside down yet again!

Edit: I guess it was just three of them.

lets see what low light looks like

but for daylight photos that isn't that bad. i would honestly expect any modern phone to take acceptable photos when plenty of light is available

Must be easy to lose track of holding the iPhone camera right side up or upside down.

Teaming the iP{hone with your DSLR makes sense.

Tiny LED "flash" on iPhone = evening and dark indoor shots would suck big-time on iPhone. Still can't replace point-and-shoots unless you only use it during daylight.

Even for daytime shots, those aren't anything to write home about. Loads of noise, and typical over-sharpening.

until the sensor size in a phone can match the sensor size in an p&s the pic quality wont be as good. Same thing goes with crop cameras and full frame.

However viewing pics on the iphone taken by an iphone are decent enough, full scale viewing on the other hand is just bad. Dont get me wrong though like I said its because of the sensor size.

Looks like they got the sensor big enough so that it could get some DoF going in scenes that aren't even that macro. Good stuff.

I used the regular iPhone 4 as a backup to my 60D when I ran out of batteries, and it took surprisingly good video. Especially since there was no wasted time setting up the camera for lighting. I was tempted to make the upgrade just for the improved camera functions, just need to see more of the image stabilization.

I'd like to see lowlight. My old SD1000 and even my less than impressive Evo3d does well enough during day/dusk. Low light/indoor is where they both struggle and why I own a S95 for mobile photo shooting.

I like my iphone 4, and might even get an iphone 4S, but I don't think these shots prove that it replaces a point and shoot.

I just bought a $160 P&S ELPH and it has features and a sensor that you just don't get in any camera phone. Maybe I am just justifying my new purchase, but I think if I want to record a special event, I still want a dedicated camera (and an SLR if you are serious). For posting blurry drunk "random friend's birthday" photos to facebook, the 4S has it locked.

I would agree, a cell phone cam will not come anything close to your Nikon D3 or Elph, but I doubt you have it on your person at all times. The best camera you own is the one you have with you. And most people always have a cell phone with them.

why?! if you have a tripod and a $2K lens, why don't you have a DSLR body? <--not directed at Kaido

Its more like a proof of concept on what is possible. Dunno, maybe as a backup, or convenience to quickly take zoomed photos and send them by email ASAP.

The question is - why not??

It's like Everest - because it's there
