I say iPhone5 because I know nothing about you and with that, iP5 is just a safe bet.

Despite the negative press, I love the iPhone 5. And I don't consider myself a sheep either (yet) because its my first apple device I've owned other than the 6 year old iPod. You realize phone companies have these on display right? You can go to their stores and play with 'em and decide for yourself which one you like.

I agree with this guy, go to the store and try them out.

It depends what you're looking for. Here's what I'd say about each:

iPhone 5:

-Very crisp 4" screen
-Best & biggest app ecosystem
-Easiest phone to set up & use
-Runs very fast with little to no lag anywhere
-Easier to use 1-handed than GS3
-Crappy built in maps app
-Siri is surprisingly good (I like it for setting appointments and asking general factual questions, ie "how tall is the CN Tower in Canada")
-Excellent camera
-Good battery life

Galaxy S III
-very nice, massive 4.8" screen
-much nicer for surfing the web & reading emails due to the large screen
-Android is a bit more complex to get into initially over iOS, but has more OS features such as widgets that make learning it worthwhile
-Very good app ecosystem, but not quite as good as iOS's
-Easier to toggle things like Wifi & Bluetooth on Android
-runs fast and smooth and doesn't lag, but isn't as buttery smooth as iOS
-Cool features such as a one-touch flashlight widget and swipe your hand across the screen to take a screenshot
-Headphone jack on top
-Very good camera
-Good battery life; very good if you turn on energy saver mode

I take it the op is not on contract with anyone? It cracks me up when people ask for advice but do not give any details of the situation.

As mentioned, go to a local store and check out the phones that interest you and pick from what you like.

My personal opinion: I think the iPhone screen is too small and do not like the fact that they kept the skinny screen on the 5. They should have went a better route. There are items not supported on apple products which drives me nuts.
I personally would go gs3, razr hd, m, or maxx. Or if you want real estate go with the note 2.
Everyone has their own opinions and needs, pick what best suits you. If your not happy with your decision, you can always trade the phone in within your allotted trial period.

Best of luck

Should probably wait a few days for the next Google announcement as the new Nexus might be worth getting.

I'll abstain from voting, but I'll give you my honest $0.02.

I have the iPhone 5, i absolutely adore it. My wife has the Galaxy SIII. I love my wife's SIII as well, but she doesn't love my iPhone 5. What I'm getting at is the SIII is an amazing phone, but the iPhone 5 is something that you really have to think hard to justify it over the SIII.

My justifications for buying the iPhone 5 were:

-Aesthetics, i felt it looked better
-Size, the SIII was too large for me to use comfortably, funny enough my wife loves it.
-Proper color saturation and crisp brightness on the iPhone over the SIII
-Simplicity, I wasn't interested in learning a phone, the iPhone hardly has a learning curve
-I enjoyed my first gen iPod touch when I bought it way back, so I figured I couldn't lose with the iPhone 5.

Again, these are just my personal preferences and are in no way intended to sway your opinion. It's not quite as simple as asking the forum board which you should get. I spent a good 30min with each phone at the store (actual display models, not dummies) and decided the best fit for me was the iPhone 5.

To be honest though, I have no buyer's remorse whatsoever, but the SIII paired with Android is one heck of a phone, I definitely try to take advantage of every chance I get to fiddle with the Wife's SIII... and it has expandable memory which the iPhone 5 does not.

Can you install iTunes on the Samsung Galaxy S III? If not, which app do you use to play music, and how does it compare to iTunes?

Oh boy... based on that question alone, you should get an iPhone 5 (no disrespect, but the Galaxy S III can and probably will be terribly complicated for you).

I have no problems learning new things, and please answer the question.

There's probably an app that can do that but the fact that you want to use iTunes means you should just get an iPhone.

Yeah. That will work out well.

As soon as he sees the GS3 sitting next to an iPhone5 (which looks pathetic in comparison), the decision will be made.

Without the groupthink, iPhone has no chance against the GS3.

As has been said, go look at the phones for yourself and decide based on what actually works for you. If you really need help choosing, then fill in the actual details of your situation and ask relevant questions.

Otherwise, as some wise person around here once pointed out: why are people wasting time trying to make up someone else's mind for them, when they're just going to end up with whatever it is they *really* wanted all along no matter what else is said?

If you want zero lag and/or a polished environment then get an iPhone 5. For everything else android. I would buy a pm iPhone 5.

I was debating both but then I tried the Note 2 and my mind was quickly made up, put in an order for the Note 2 and switching to T-mobile.

Pretty sure this is a troll post because you would have said "iPod" if you were talking about the iOS music app.

"iTunes" in iOS is only a store (like the app store).

I prefer the RAZR Maxx... awesome battery life and it feels better to me than the S3.

I don't understand why people think that the apple app store is better. Sure it has more, but anything out over the past year is on both. Then again I only use about 15 apps.

The iphone 5 is still the top competitor against the GS3.

I don't get why "iPhone has no chance against the GS3" statement.

One of the really main things I like about the Iphone is that it has iMessages. It is so well-integrated that anyone can just use it without downloading any apps between iphone's.
