why do we have one of these threads every two weeks? jeez.

My iPhone 5 is on the way. I'd avoid the GS3 and look at the LG Nexus

please tell him why he should avoid the gs3 and go with a 3g phone with no sd slot?

The iphone 5 is still the top competitor against the GS3.

I don't get why "iPhone has no chance against the GS3" statement.

One of the really main things I like about the Iphone is that it has iMessages. It is so well-integrated that anyone can just use it without downloading any apps between iphone's.

If Google knew what they were doing in this regard, we'd have proper integration with GTalk and Google Voice.

I thought I would want / miss an SD slot. Even with the minimum-capacity i5 (16GB), I really don't miss the SD slot.

Storage performance is crazy-fast. I don't have to manage where applications and data go and everything syncs automatically with my other devices via iCloud.

I tried iTunes Match for music because $25/yr seems like a really good deal. I own LOTS of real CDs. It matches most of my downloaded / ripped music to a high-bitrate iTunes version and uploads the rest to Apple's cloud. My phone can stream all the music directly from the cloud or I can download specific songs / albums to make sure they're always available (though streaming hasn't failed me yet).

I could live without an SD card but right now I'm DL a bit torrent on my cell and now start storing lots of movies and video clips.

Like I said I could live without it but no 4g data on the new nexus is a deal breaker in the USA.I can't rec that cell to anyone I know for the fact that its running 3g

Has it been confirmed anywhere that the US versions carriers will sell wont have LTE? Or is this more Internet hearsay you're spewing as fact? I'm not aware of any rumors regarding carrier released versions. Of course the unlocked model will come without LTE.

He said LG Nexus. The Nexus will probably be sold by Google directly and won't have LTE.

ATT has the LG Optimus G with LTE. There is no reason for them to carry the Optimus G and the LG Nexus 4, since they are the same phone almost. So, yes he is correct the Nexus won't have LTE but the regular Optimus G will.

Verizon and Sprint sell the Galaxy Nexus with LTE. Unless Google is planning to sell this thing completely on their own again, I don't see any reason why carrier versions can't have LTE. Maye AT&T won't sell it, they didn't sell the GNex. That still leaves two major US carriers with LTE service that an unlocked Nexus won't operate on.

Wait where is all the news coming from that the next Nexus won't have LTE? I thought all smartphones from this point on require it?

From what I've seen online the next nexus is 3g cell.

I would be incredibly surprised if they sell a non-LTE phone in the states. I have mixed feelings about Internet rumors. I've had many afternoons laughing at how much life a bad rumor can get (when I knew what was really true)

Well the nexus that is coming out in a few weeks is deff not lte and the leaked specs don't show it as an lte device.

Why would Google even bother not launching it with 4g off the bat is a mystery and the roumrs are saying maybe a lte device will come up in a few months

Poweramp. Awesome app.

Thank you for answering my question. I am leaning towards the S3 mainly because it has a bigger screen and I want to develop my own apps on it. I just wanted to know if the S3 had an equivalent to iTunes/iPod. Does it balance out the volumes of the songs so that some songs don't sound really loud?

Put me in the "denial until it's officially released" the idiocy of that magnitude is too great for me to believe.

The Nexus that Google sells directly will most certainly be HSPA+ only. It's too difficult at this point to make an unlocked LTE device that can cover everything.

What we don't know, however, is whether its launching on any carriers. If/when it launches on a carrier, it will most likely have that carriers LTE spectrum covered.

usually there are leaks of drivers and what not for different carriers and so far there have been no lte leaks.

even the main specs show its as a 3g+ phone

I think google is going back to the nexus as strickly a dev phone and sold threw them being 100% unlocked and bootloader opened to do as devs please and not even bothering to deal with carriers that want to lock the cell up.

remember the nexus was never ment to be a badassed speced cell, its more of a dev phone than anything else.

Stop talking about the Nexus. That's not what this thread is about. All of those posts are off-topic.

I have both but if I could only have one it would be the sgs3. It just does so much more than the iPhone 5.

Overall, I think the SGS3 is old news now. The A6 is blazing in the iPhone 5 and the performance is incredible. The display is only 4", but its the best looking display available right now according to display mate.

If you want an android device, I would get nothing less than an S4 Pro.

The ip5 is supposedly the fastest phone on the market right now but you do not really gain much over the 4s if you've had experience with one.

Since you are leaning towards a bigger screen, sgs3 or razr hd line would be good choices for you. As I mentioned back on pg 1; if you really want real estate and many functions/options not found on other devices, look at the galaxy note 2.

As far as I know, any android phone can pretty much do anything an iPhone can plus more. I believe iTunes can be run on any phone but as mentioned there are other options.

You are going to get so many different responses here since everyone has their own preferences, etc.
