I use Flux, iFile, YouTube Pro, console emulators on my iDevices. All very useful tweaks. Jailbreaking still has its legitimate uses.

Apple has been consistently been killing off the holes really quickly now. They HAVE to given where they are in terms of the product. If you allow any jailbreaks to exist that can bypass the phone being locked down (because it was stolen), then people will have no faith in their phone being secure.

This is simply because these days jailbreaks are so few and far between; they jailbreak iOS X.0, then save the other known jailbreaks for future releases. If you're lucky, they jailbreak iOS X.1, but more like they they just wait until iOS (X+1).0 to jailbreak again.

The bad thing about this behavior is that Apple ends up using a release to both close the jailbreak hole (since to them it's a security issue) along with fixing other security issues....and so people who want to keep their jailbreak end up running older versions with security holes in them.

Frankly, I don't see jailbreaking living much longer. Most of what I JBed for in past is now in iOS, or I just don't care anymore. A free hotspot was nice since I still get unlimited data...but otherwise "meh".

I have always jail broken my iPhone. It would,be a shame if jailbreaking dies off. I miss the themes and being able to run some cydia. Apps.

Nothing on 8.1.3 or higher my friend. I wish there was so I could upgrade but if reddit/jailbreak is to be believed, then the Chinese developers are waiting for iOS9 to drop and then there will be a jailbreak.

I remember when they patched the SSL bug on iOS 7, they didn't bother patching out the jailbreak. One of their rare good guy moves.

With Apple's "rootless" feature, it does indeed look like Jailbreaking is done for. I won't say it's impossible because nothing is unhackable, but it will certainly make it more difficult. Which actually makes me less likely to purchase an iOS device in the future. I like the platform but I want the freedom to tweak it.

Would be nice if Apple made an iOS Pro for power users, with root access so jailbreaking wouldn't be necessary. I'd pay for it. I don't see that ever happening though, but dare to dream. ^_^
